A timing belt change is not monitored by the service engine soon light.it comes on when the computer detects a problem and sets a code.the code will have to be pulled to know what area to start to diagnose.the ticking could be anything from low or dirty oil needing to be changed to the valves may need adjusting, even a worn or dry belt can make a ticking sound.you don`t say how many miles are on the car or if you have changed the timing belt.if the mileage is over 100,000 kil(60,000 miles) then it should be changed.

Need to locate and replace the water pump on 1997 nissan sentra.

The water pump is located on the passanger side of the engine. Look right below the timing chain cover and there is a pully and belt on the water pump. You will have to remove the water pump and thermostate together then seperate them after you get them off the car. I would recommend replacing the thermostate also (cheap fix). You will have to remove the belt and pully before you can remove the water pump. Hope this helps....

'service engine soon' light

I think that is scan tool only but most mechanics have the scanners these days so it will be a lot cheaper to go to your local mechanic instead of the dealer. It prob wasn't reset last service if the light wasn't on at time of service.

I have to chancge my nisan quest timing belt

This is a difficult job and you should probably have a pro do it. Don't mean to discourage, just save you some grief in the long run. If you have a lot of experience and want to try it, this is probably the best site to check out:

1994 nisan sentra car gets stuck in idle

The problem is with the cable running from the pedal in the car to the exellerator in the engin. there is only one way to fix this and that is to replace the cable. What happen is the the small stings of the cable start breaking and then get stuck inside the casing. It's only a matter of time before the cable will break.
