SOURCE: 1987 944 clutch pedal stays on the floor

look, if the clutch pedal is to the floor, there are about 3 different things that could be wrong. First check brake fluid to make sure full, see if there is any leakage under steering wheel and below transmission. Next could be the slave cylinder, it could be faulty or not bled right. Last it could be the master cylinder. If when you bleed the slave cylinder and have no movement in the arm inside the transmission then most likely the master cylinder is broken. Look under the steering wheel and see if everything looks entact. Watch the movement of the pedal and see if movement looks normal and see if fully attached. Good luck. If hydraulic actuated mechanism, loss of fluid, defective master cylinder or slave cylinder at the clutch. Missing pin or other part between slave cylinder and clutch arm. Loose or broken slave cylinder mounting. Missing pin or broken part between pedal and master cylinder. If mechanical linkage, look for broken components or missing pins at moving joints. If you tried to shift into gear with engine running, you may have damaged the transmission gears.

The clutch works this way: press the pedal, the pedal pulls a cable, that cable moves a lever with a bearing at its end, that bearing presses on the extremities of the disk spring, that spring deforms and lifts the pressure plate disengaging the clutch plate.
In your case the spring is no longer doing disengaging because either the bearing or the extremities of the disk spring have failed - most likely the latter. You will gonna have to replace the pressure plate assembly.
Here's a complete clutch kit

the slave cylinder for the clutch may have failed, or it is out of fluid, it may have a leak. check to see if the fluid level is ok for clutch. could have a leak in the syatem, or maybe the clutch cable is broke or out of adjustment.

Clutch noise

Bearing noises in a clutch system are easily distinguished by running a few simple tests. Start the engine and leave the transmission in neutral. If a transmission makes noise when it is in neutral it is often a worn input shaft bearing. Now depress the pedal until the clutch just engages. This is the point where the release bearing is just contacting the pressure plate fingers. If you begin to hear a squealing sound this is likely a worn release bearing. If a whirling noise is present when the clutch pedal is fully depressed it is probably the pilot bearing.

Clutch not engaging

Well, it would shift easily with engine off, because the transmission input shaft is not turning. Engine running and clutch engaging good, the input shaft would again be stationary and allow smooth shifting.
What you have to determine is if the clutch disc or pressure plate is bad (a new clutch is needed), or if the pedal hydraulic system has a malfunction. When you push the pedal down, a rod from the top of pedal pushes into the clutch master cylinder bolted to the firewall under the hood. This cylinder has a reservoir filled with brake fluid. When the rod forces fluid from the clutch master down a steel line and into the clutch slave cylinder down on the transmission bell housing, the hydraulic pressure forces a plunger from the slave cylinder to extend and push the clutch fork lever a small amount, enough to force the clutch release bearing (aka throw-out bearing) against the pressure plate. This relieves pressure on the clutch disc and input shaft becomes stationary for easy shifting.

1996 nissan maxima clutch squeals pedal stuck to floor

Sound like you're going to need a whole new clutch assembly, but if the fluid level was dry you may have sucked air into the system which means that the clutch will have to be bled at the slave cylinder, just like you would brakes. The squealing sound is coming from the throw out bearing, usually when the do that it means that the bearing is frozen and cannot spin. Either way it looks like you'll be dropping the transmission to work on the clutch.

1999 chevrolet cavalier standard transmition engage cluch car will start go into gear but will not move what is problem

The clutch pressure plate may have failed or the clutch plate may be worn to the rivets therefore not engaging the transmission. Either of these would be making a loud noise when the clutch is engaged. Another problem could be that the hydraulic fluid is low and not allowing the throwout bearing to engage the clutch. Get underneath the car and have someone push the clutch pedal down and make sure the arm that moves the throwout bearing is moving correctly.

1998 Ford Taurus SE, Problem Transmissions wont Shift, Took it to the Shop and they Said it Had to be a Electracal Problem?? But they did not Know what, Some times Works Fine Other Times Check Engine Comes...

TRY THIS I BET IT'S YOUR PROBLEM

Neutral Safety Switch
  • Put the selector in the park position.
  • Loosen the screws on the neutral safety switch.
  • Remove the switch.
  • Reverse the procedures to complete the installation.
Clutch Start Switch
CAUTION
Before replacing the clutch switch or any component connected to the vehicle's control computer, disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
  • After replacing the switch, slowly work the clutch pedal and note any unusual noises or interferences with pedal movement.
  • If the switch is adjustable, make sure the clutch pedal height and push rod (free) play are correct.
  • Then check the release point of the clutch.
  • Begin by engaging the parking brake and installing wheel chocks.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle.
  • Without depressing the clutch pedal, slowly shift the shift lever into reverse until the gears contact.
  • Gradually depress the clutch pedal and measure the stroke distance from the point the gear noise stops (this is the release point) up to the full stroke end position.
  • If the distance is not within specifications, check the pedal height, push rod play, and pedal free play.
  • If the distance is correct, check the clearance between the switch and the pedal assembly when the clutch is fully depressed.
