"I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button. Check out some of my other posts if you need more tips and info." 1992 Cadillac Eldorado 4 9l cooling system diagram Google Search
The fans are controlled by the ECT sensor which is sent to the ECM, the ECM turns on the fans as needed, so there are no switches like the older systems.
you pcm has an open fault it seems to me. Try a used car lot that deals with Cadillacs for most of these used car lots are mechanic owned from the get go
Many items need assessment. First what is THE COOLANT LEVEL enine running from cold start. IF LOW . Is there a coolant leak and where ? Lets say all of the previous check OK. ARE THE COOLING FANS OPERATING ? . They are , GREAT. Is it possible the cooling system ( i.e. radiator ) is clogged internally, or blocked exterior cooling fins of the radiator restricting cooling air. Hope this helps.
there is a relay panel under the hood with your engine cooling fan relay inside, a 12 dollar part, sounds to me like this relay may need to be replaced. There will be a diagram in your owners manual telling you exactly where it is located in your car. It should be noted that this relay has to be activated before the current reaches any fuse inside the cars fuse panel so your fan fuses can all be good but if the relay is not working the engine cooling fans will not come on. Be careful of dealerships I had one tell me it was a 3000 dollar wiring problem when it was only the relay.
very tight but you can clear the engine just moving some spark plug wires and the vacuum controls (controlled units?) right in front of it. when you get the bolts off the blower fan housing and its free to move you just have to rotate it so the flat part can clear the rear valve cover. do yourself a favor and be sure to isolate the problem to the motor (and not the electrical connections or the computer disabling it for something rediculous like lack of a/c charge) as it's an expensive part for a little motor and worse (around 250 i think) if you need end up replacing the entire fan.
