okay this how you do it you lift the handle up on the car and you move it back and it should go back only when the handle is up
SOURCE: Malfunction Light
The light coming on means that there is a trouble code stored in the cars computer. The code could be a simple fix or a major problem. The only way to know for sure is to get the code read and find out. Advance Auto Parts and Autozone offer a free diagnostic code check to tell you what the problem is, so if you have one of those stores around you, you can take it there. If you do not have one of those in your area, then try to find an auto parts store or mechanic that offers a free diagnostic check. As to your question of "can a regular mechanic take care of this" the answer is yes, as long as he has a computer to read your codes and diagnose the problem. Hope this helps and let me know if you need more information.
Thanks!

First tell me what code did you get from the obd2 tester. your so called mechanic should have told you. you can do the same erasing by disconecting the batery for half an hour.
Is the car running good or bad and how is your mialege and is it very hot at the catalictic converter, probably it is your O2 sensor going bad , check what codes you are getting first, Vitally

Check the alignment with the door pin. Might be out of adjustment and will not let the door close all the way. That will cause the lock to not be operable. Good luck and have a great day.
