Harmonic balance pulley came loose.broke both belts on alternator and power sterring pump. one of the belts wore a hole in my timing belt cover.part of the belt got intertwinded with the timing belt.the timing belt was replaced, got timing right, car ran good and strong, put timing cover back on, put new pulley on, put both new belts on, changed plugs, wires, and distributor, went to start it, and it wouldn't start....put the old wires, plugs, and distributor back on, and it still wouldn't start. It seemed like it wasn't getting fuel to the injectors, been working on it for a few days, can't get it started, starter went out now, also changed fuel pump and still won't start. can you please tell me why it will not start???

If it ran prior to removing the distributor, it maybe 180 degrees out. Remove the cap, leave the rotor in place, loosen the bolt and lift it up,turn rotor until it is on the opposite side and place it back in.

SOURCE: 94 Toyota Camry 2.2 liter Start problem

Rule 1 ....WD40 is non-flammable. It used to be an effective starter spray for diesels. Unfortunately it now contains a fire retardant to prevent accidents....so the rev you were looking for wont arrive.
It does work well with easy-start/ether though.
I suspect you found a vacuum leak and sucked WD40 into the intake....If u think u did you'll need to clean your plugs.
A strobe lamp to check the spark would be a good idea. Also if a lil squirt (VERY LITTLE) of easy start doesnt produce at least a backfire, your spark is out.

Can a harmonic balancer cause a belt to misalign and cause premature belt wear?

If it's clear that the alignment of the belts isn't correct, then your balancer probably is not the problem. You can usually see the harmonic balancer "wobble" as the engine is running if it's damaged, a visual inspection should give you an idea if it's the problem. It would have to be in terrible condition to cause your belt to change position.

Usually this problem occurs after an alternator, water pump, idler pulley, or similar part has been replaced with one that doesn't line up the same as the OEM part that was replaced. This is one of the most important reasons for comparing your core or old part with the new parts precisely, before installing the replacement parts.

Try aligning the belt on all of the pulleys except one (at a time and then switch to leave out another item), this should help you to determine what is out of alignment specifically and then you should be able to measure the difference hopefully identifying a fix.

I have a1999 Chevrolet metro Lsi, and the water pump pulley and belt is rubbing against the timing belt cover

Water pump bearings must be worn out. Loosen the belt and check the pump to see if the shaft is loose.

Noise in the drive belt area and how to replace the belt

Depending on the engine size and year, some belt routing is on the belt cover. Check the alignment of the crank pulley or harmonic balancer, a common problem . Most jeeps tension the belt by the power sterring pump or a tensioner pulley next to power sterring .

4cyl 2000 honda accord engine stalls while idling, recently died and will only start for short periods... possible problems/solutions?

check for spark and fuel after it dies.

If there is spark but no fuel, then the fuel pump may be bad or a clogged fuel filter.

If there is fuel but not spark, then the ignition control module or the ignition coil could be bad.

Also, check that the timing belt is timing the engine correctly.

Power sterring will not line up with other pulls

is it a 4.0l 6 cylinder?
if it is then its not the power steering pump pulley, unless it has been removed and reinstalled incorrectly.
the harmonic balancer has come apart [crank pulley] the rubber insulator between the center and outside parts of the balancer has deteriorated and the outer ring has moved forward or back.look at the inner edge of the balancer were the belt rides, there is a timing marker on the timing cover the inner edge of the balancer should be just a bit under the timing tab.if not or you see rubber sticking out of balancer face then replace balancer
a common problem on 6 cylinder jeeps

My power sterring pump is lose

the harmonic balancer on the crank often times separates it's inner core from the pulley portion of the balancer causing these mysterious belt problems.
Unless some recent work was done in that area , I would suspect the harmonic balancer.
