My 1990 buick regal 3.1 starts n idles but when i touch the gas it falls on itself and dies.. the computer said map sensor, so i got a new one and it does the same thing.. now the computer is saying map sensor volts high and map sensor volts low.. can someone please give me some advice????
1991 3.8 liter engines used a Mass Air Flow sensor in the intake tract (measures incoming air) instead of a MAP sensor. The MAF sensor is located on the engine just behind where intake hose is attached.

Sounds to me like a fuel filter.When was the last time it was changed?Because if a car starts and runs till you give it gas under load then dies it is a fuel problem.Start by chaging fuel filter and if problem still persists then next thing to check is fuel pump.
unfortunatly it sounds like you are having issues with the torque converter. it sounds like it is locking up all the time now. this requires the transmission to be taken out to change it i do not know what your experience is so not sure if you have the tools or knowledge to do it yourself.
