May be the problem is not the fuel pump but the regulator valve in the fuel manifold. Has a manifold pressure and pump pressure test been done . One has to be careful with caravans as by nature they sit for long times without use and it is a tendancy to leave the fuel tank with a limited amount of fuel in it with related problems.
My friend had a similar problem. When he had it checked, he was told to spray staring fluid on the air filter and it started. So, he was told that if it starts by spraying starting fluid on the air filter, the problem is with the fuel pump. If not, the problem is electrical. So far, my friends starex diesel AT is running smoothly. Hope this will help you. Cheers.
Classic bad ground to the fuel pump...Mine did it untill I hard wired it to a switch with a power light. Car stalls light out I throw the switch and im in control but remember to shut it off or your battery will be dead lol.
depends how long its been sitting if starts with easy start then its a fuel pump problem like the fuel has gone bad or the pump has gummed itself up ,so take it out and check that the pump still works as i suspect that its gummed up and good clean will cure it for you
Sounds like dirty gas and the fuel filter is clogged...try changing the fuel filter...some are under the car, but most are mounted against the firewall in the engine compartment.
sounds to me like the fuel pump is bad, when it warms up it dies, try to check this by filling the tank and running a while, then run the van with a near empty tank and see how it does. A full tank of gas should keep the fuel pump cool as it is surrounded by the liquid. I had a similar problem. when my tank got to about a quarter full (3/4 empty) the van would shut off after a short distance, then after sitting for a while would start up again get me a little farther then shut off again. i ended up changiung the fuel pump cost me almost $300. if this simple test shows no results the you got electrical problems, check distributor, and surrounding cables. good luck. also check your fuses could be dirty!
The pressure relief valve is in the spider fuel injector not the fuel pump. We have had our 94 gmc jimmy for 4 years & have had to replace the fuel injector 4 times which cost right at $500 each time for the part. Yes the spider fuel injector cost averages around $500.
