Under 50,000 miles - 2004 Lincoln Aviator - replaced rear end - now quoted $3700.00 for new #6 cyclinder. There are problems with this car. Cyclinders do not go bad with this many miles on them. What the problem?

Gas Leak under Hood on 2004 Aviator

It can only be a small area. Does it seem to be coming from the fuel rail area, which is usually chrome color. The fuel pressure regulator or fuel line. The fuel line come up the driver side firewall connects to a regulator, and then feeds into the fuel rail. Any of these connections could be the leaking source. Also one of the rubber o rings for the injector could be leaking. Look to see where it mostly looks to be coming from and feel around the pipes for the gas.

Just purchase a 2004 lincoln aviator and notice it has a crack on the rear hatch. Can i get a lincoln dealership to repair it as a recall

Probably not as the original warranty is out of date. Usually anything covered bumper to bumper is only 3yrs/36,000 miles wcf.

2oo4 aviator: vertical crack near the right emblem on windowed liftgate below glass down to bottom.

Most body shop can replace and paint the new part, but aviator, explores, mountaineer all do that, must be a ford defect.

Downshifts

Take it to another dealer if the guy is blowing you off. If you don't want to do that, then there is a number in your owner's manual towards the back. It is a 1-800 number that will connect you to customer service in Dearborn. Explain the details to the representative, then the rep will get in touch with the dealer and have a little discussion with him. You may find that his attitude will change. I assume that the car is still under warrany? I believe they came with a 4yr/48K mile warranty? You might need to have the fluid changed. Or there could be another problem. But discuss it with the people in Detroit and they will help you. good luck.
