Replaced water pump, thermostat, fan repaired, no leaks, radiator cap replaced? What else can this be?

    No cracks seen

I had the same prob. change pump, radiator, thermostat, fan. First check if its just electrical.
does the temp needle change if you turn on/off your headlights? you just might need extra electrical(neg) grounding on your body to engine. This solved my problem.
Your fan might be turning alright but is it at the sufficient speed? you should hear it really blowing at a hotter temp.
If you start your engine with the water cap removed, you must not see bubbles when you rev it, otherwise it might be the head gasket.

Try running the engine without the radiator cap. If the water is bubbling it may be the cylinder gasket if not,
check the temp needle if it moves fast when you turn on/off your headlights and aircon. if it does, you should put a grounding wire (neg) from the body to the engine. This solved my same problem.

It is either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Depending on which motor your civic has, this could be a tricky replacement, either way, you have to remove the head off of the motor, and then take the head to have it pressure checked to see if there is a crack in it. Nine times out of ten though, you can see a crack in the head with your eye, but you have to have the right "eye" to be able to see the crack.

Well, the only thing left is to replace the head gasket. If you have replaced everything else, the head gasket most likely was bad. But unless you took the head completely off of the motor, and checked the underside, you woulnd't have noticed any cracks

The most common overlook thing is you got a air pocket, so before you go spend your money turn Heather on full blast, open the radiator cap, car running look for air bubbles, takes patience cause you got to wait for the thermostat to open up, you must refill the coolant really really slow snail pace, some car have a bleeding valve others have two chamber on the overflow bottle, good luck, if that doesn't work change the thermostat first and if that doesn't work I'm afraid you may need to replace water pump. . water pump

Cracked Cylinder head or cylinder head gasket blown. Bet you filled it up with cold water when it was hot! Check your oil level, see if it is going up (water getting in) Remove the rad cap start your engine and if it blows the water out then i'm probably right.

1997 honda civic over temp. Have replaced radiator, hoses and thermostat. Ran well for awhile and then started to overheat. Checked the coolant reservor and found it empty. Refilled and tried to bleed...

Generally if one hose is hot, and the other hose is cold it indicates that they water is not circulating. You could have a defective thermostat. Take the thermostat out and run the engine without it. With the radiator cap off you should see a lot of water moving through. It that is the case, replace the thermostat and you should be ok. If there is no rapid movement of water it may be the impeller on the water pump came loose. This is rare, but it can happen since the impeller is usually pressed on the shaft. You should also check and see if you get a lot of bubbles when the car is running and the cap off. This often indicates a blown head gasket. Hope this helps.

What could make my 03 civic ex overheat and cool down then overheat again while losing heat inside??? Already replaced radiator, water pump, thermostat.... motor

your heater has apparently restricted the coolant flow....hopefully a good system back flushing will cure the problem....use a flush obtained from a parts house....I would buy the hose kit for flushing as well...good luck to you

2002 civic ex overheating

with your description it sounds like your fans are not coming on, also sounds like the problem was never solved, sounds like you threw a lot of money at your problem also... check to see if the fans are coming on at the right times, seems like a n air movement over the radiator since you say it only gets hot in stop and go traffic... well when your driving at a constant highway speed guess what you have air movement through the radiator... check also a clogged ac condensor with bugs, pressure wash it out so the air can pass through it easily... please rate my help thanks
