Jaguar x type 2.0 turbo diesel 2006. Car was smoking really badly in all gears black like sut, really rough idling. And sounds like it has breathing problems almost like it's not running on all cylinders. Was told to change turbo and EGR Valve, have changed them but still exactly same problem but now seems like there is no fuel pressure when I loosen the fuel inlet to injection. I haven't tried changing fuel filter or fuel pump. Anyone think it would be that simple or would there be a more significant problem?

I have exactly the same problem on my x type 2.0 turbo diesel 2006. Problem occurred all of a sudden while driving, was told to change turbo and EGR valve, but same problem. Took to dealers and they advised because it has so many error faults coming from the engine it would be cheaper to change the engine. Will be trying this unless I can get some other advise.

2005 (Dec) Jaguar X-Type 2.0 Diesel. It starts with rough idle 500-600 rpm for 2-3 seconds. and after jumps to 850 - 900 rpm and then drives perfectly.

You should always take the upgrades. They are fixes to known issues.

All Diesel engines are slow to start as they need pressure and heat which happens after a few revolutions of the engine.

Rough Idle is normally because the Throttle Body and MAF need cleaning.

Rough low idle and black smoke

Bad carb or fuel injection issues- the system is fuel rich (black smoke) and also fuel rich system can make the idle low. Many things can cause this but thses are just a few.

I have got a jaguar x type 2.0 turbo diesel i get black smoke when accellerating hard what are the possible causes

first thing to do is put injector cleaner into the fuel tank to see if this improves things, a can to 5 gallons is fine.if then you still have the problem look to the air cleaner, then the turbo.going up in expense.......black smoke(soot)is normally associated with too much fuel not enough air.....or bad combustion.

Jag X TYPE Diesel Black smoke coming from exhaust on acceleration

i had this problem and thought the fuel filter oil filter needed replacing so i have just had a service done but problem is still there but not as bad. been told it could be the AGR valve or a split pipe going to it which recuirculates unused fuel back to burn again. therefore unspent fuel is coming out of the exhaust causing the black smoke. i am still looking for the answer aswell, hope this helps.

Rough idle and generally running terrible!

if idling rough sound like air in system.and your injection pump timing is off.

Diesel engine (2c turbo inport from china)

gday im a mechanic i have owned two of these in a lite ace and a tarago there are three possitions that the cam shaft can be aligned and not have valve piston contact the middle one is the right one the two ither side of the correct one cant breath properly smokes badly ,idels rough and extreem lack of power and excessive noise (cam belt one tooth out ) same if injector pump is a tooth out but noisier. you need to remove the fan hub bracket to see the timing mark for the IP drive pully also the injector pump internals can be assembled 180 degrees out resulting in injection at bottom dead centre , extreem noise ,heaps of smoke and will barely move the car in first gear also the crank timing mark is only visible with the front harmonic balance flywheel and timing belt cover removed . answer to the other question why not a rover diesel . the 2ct ues heaps less fuel revvs heaps harder comes factory balanced is heaps quieter and lasts heaps longer there is no contest with the rover diesel the 2ct weighs less to the down side is that the turbo usualy fitted on the 2ct is under sized and very short lived. boosts early for low down torq but is unable to breath at the high revvs that this engine loves. turbo getts too hot at highway speeds and melts bearings if not warmed down . mine has a water cooled turbo of a 2.8 izuzu motor from a trooper/jackeroo im soon fitting this engine and turbo into 79 chrysler scorpion. this engine when decompressed to 17 to one with hot glow plugs handles 30 psi boost, you can get three different thickness head shims for this motor to decompress , ignore petro company propaganda ive done 300,000+ kms burning everything from lard mixed with alchohol to canola and sunflower blended with jet fuel ,petrol, sump waste oil a good injecor pump will feed an engine anything thicker than kerosine so long as its hot(80 to 100degrees c) even lard and sumpoil the thicker the oil the more lubricating and the longer the pump and injectors last so long as the oil is well filtered and free of water
