Yes, it is fairly simple. First bring the number one cylider to top dead center on the compression stroke. Now remove your distributor cap. Then mark the relationship of the distributor base to engine. Then mark the relationship of the distributor rotor to the distributor.Mark them in a place where it will be easy for you to transfer the marks to the new distributor. When you mark them, make sure that the surfaces are clean and free of oil and debri. You dont want your marks to be rubbed of.I use fingernail pollish and let it dry good. Then remove the bolt that holds the dist. clamp to the engine and remove the clamp. Now grasp the distributor and pull away from engine.Notice as the distributor comes away from engine, the rotor will rotate. This is the distr. gear unmeshing with the cam gear. When you reinstall you must compensate for this rotation ,so that your marks line back up.Transfer the marks and any parts that the new distributor didnt come with and reverse procedures to install. It may take a few attemps before you get your marks to line back up...DO NOT DISTURB OR TRY TO CRANK ENGINE WHILE DISTRIBUTOR IS REMOVED.To time the engine you must relieve the computers control of the timing and install timing light. The timing setting should be on a sticker under the hood.I recomend you to purchase a repair manual from autozone or advance or elsewhere...Good Luck!!!! Please rate this aswer.Thank You!!!
Look under the hood, mounted to the firewall.Maybe about center of vehicle. There is a single wire with a plug on the end of it.The plug will not be connected to anything. It may have a waterproof shield on it that you have to remove first. You have to connect this wire to a good engine ground to stop the computer from advancing the timing. Then connect your timing light and set the base timing.Timing specs are different according to engine size and manual or automatic tranny. You will be safe setting the timing at 5 degrees btdc.Dont forget to remove the jumper wire when finished...Good Luck!!!
