I have a used 2007 Ford Edge SEL AWD. The past few weeks it's been making a beeping noise that always follows the same pattern. It's several beeps, a pause and a few more beeps and it does it three times in a row. At first it seemed to come from the backseat area but now it sounds like it's under the front seat? I've searched and searched and there's nothing underneath the seats like a kids toy that would cause the beeping. The beeping seems to start anytime I'm driving and there is a slight jarring like hitting a bump.

I have a 2005 Mustang, and sometimes if you have something in the passenger seat (like a bag or purse) the car may think that it's someone sitting there without a seat belt. Other beeping sounds come from your blinker being on too long while driving, your trunk may not be closed all the way, or your door may not be closed all the way, or your over head lights may be on. It's so easy to rub up against the light when you get into the car, and in the daytime you won't know that it's on. Your dash will light up, but it's such a quick flash, you can't tell what it is.

Disconnect the battery negative cable then reconnect. See if that helps. Battery life should run up to 4 years.if you replace the battery yourself , you may experience some check engine light or other lights on the dash. But do the same. disconnect the negative termonal and let sit then reconnect. you may have to do this several times. the computer de-programs when the battery is removed. you have to let it re-program itself.

There is a circlip on the axle that makes it hard to pop out. There is no way to reach in and take off this clip so don't think about that. You can try a few things to get it out though. They make a attachment for slide hamers that are shaped like a u that slips in behind that you can try to pop it out, or you can use a pry bar to get behind the joint and pop it out that way. A word of caution- be very carefull if you are going to pry on it, the casing behind is not very strong and you can crack it-so be gentel,may even put a block of wood as cussion under the bar. It would also help to have one of your freinds over to help hold the axle out as straight as possible in order to take any extra load off the inner joint.
