When I start my car I hear a constant high pitch whine. the pitch increases a little bit on acelaration and braking. It sounds like a fan,but you hear the noise in the back seat right side. my cruise control is not working. I just purchased the car and im very happy with it. why would theyinstall a speedameter that has a top of 85 mph actualy75.

Whining engine

does yours have a turbo fitted as it can be this. if it dont go up or down with engine speed it can be somthing ells , like a wheel bearing catching brake shield ( onto the disc) or even the thrust bearing on the clutch. auto dont have this.

High pitch whining sound from engine

Check the power steering fluid if its low it could cause this. Also could be alternator, water pump, ac compressor, or idler pulley. My bet would be on the idler pulley, its the one that keeps the belt tension constant. Remove the belt and check this pulley for slack also spin it by hand.

you could be low on transmission fluid check that and make sure it registering properly on the dipstick.

Weird noises in drive and reverse

The high pitched whine in reverse sounds normal for a honda. Ever honda I have had makes a similar noise while in reverse. The spinning, scraping noise in drive is not normal. You might want to see a mechanic about that.
