I have a 2007 VW Golf GT with a jammed rear passenger door. I have had it to the repair man who hasn't been able to open the door to get to the lock mechanism. Catch 22. Can't open the door because lock jammed, can't get to the lock because door wont open! Apparently removing the inside door trim does not give access to lock. Thinks he may need to destroy the door to get it open. Any suggestions? ****

SOURCE: Door not closing, mechanism not ingaging

I had the same problem of the door not closing because of that little mechanism locked down. I kept wiggling and poking the little mechanism and it finally let up after i just pulled open on the inside door handle. hope this helps.

SOURCE: Interior trim panel removal instruction

Normal 0 . Disconnect your negative battery cable. Locate and remove the screws that hold your interior door handles in place (they may be hidden by snap in, or snap on clips). Remove the interior door handles, then disconnect the wire clips to the switches. Your panel is held in place by snap in clips; use a small pry bar to pull them from the door (try to get as close to, or directly under the clips to prevent them from tearing out of the door panel). Once the clips are pulled, pull the panel upward to remove it from the door.
Install in reverse.

If you don't have power windows you will have to remove the manual window crank. It is held in place by a clip on the back side of the base. To remove the clip, you will need a small hook (kind of like a knitting needle). Put the hook in behind the base, and grab the clip and pull it off. To replace it, slide the clip back on the window crank, and snap it back on the door.

SOURCE: Passenger side rear door only opens from inside.

It sounds like the linkage connecting the door handle to the latch has disengaged....you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. You can then pull off the weather seal in order to see the inside of the door....

2003 VW GOLF REAR door wont open

The rear door lock actuator has failed in the door locking unit this is a common problem you can manually unlock the door to replace the latch if you didn't have the deadlocking on if you cant try pressing the locking button twice so when the car is locked the flashing red light is not blinking ie off on the drivers. Doing this usually causes the faulty lock to release the dead locking so you can pull the inside handle to unlock the door.

Driver door jammed on vw golf 99

Hold the door( when it's open) and try to lift it. After moving the door up and down, monitor the hinges, this will let you know if the hinges are getting worn.
drivers door gets used the most, maybe it's starting to sag causing binding.

HI, I have a 1998 mk3 VW golf, 5 door, the problem I have is the passenger rear door can only be opened from the inside but will not open from the outside (so it isn't a childlock problem) in addition to...

Sound like different problems. In the matter of your rear passenger door, you may have a loose or broken cable which connects the handle to the release mechanism.
As for the driver door, you may have a bad cylinder or complete door door latch.

Vw golf mk4 my rear passenger door willnot open with central locking key system. i can't even open it from the inside, pull the door handle and the lock pin rises but door won't open. i believ

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

Rear doors will not open with key for my vw golf

There was a recall on this type of problem. A plastic piece would break off and jam the rod not allowing the doors in the back to open. If you are not the first owner the first step would be to see if this recall applies to your car and get it fixed for free.
