Volkswagon Passat 2005 - driving home from work and the handbrake warning light comes on followed by the annoying alarm. Turn slightly left it stops then the ASB warning light comes on followed by the ESP light, turn right handbrake warning light and alarm activates again "handbrake on", then battery light flashes on briefly message appears "alternator workshop", the ASB and ESP lights disappear, the airbag warning light comes on, have turned left so the handbrake warning light has gone off. I'm home enjoying a glass of wine. We have had on-going issues with the handbrake warning light and the alarm and have had it fixed previously. Any ideas as to what is going on?

This sometimes is triggered by the MAF(Mass Air Flow Sensor), try cleaning it with the highest percent isoproply alcohal first, do not touch the sensor with anything use a big bag to soak it into, or just replace the sensor.

2002 VW passat wagon brakes

Check the level of the brake fluid, as the pads wear down the fluid level falls slightly and the sensor reacts and gives the warning, it may happen more as you are cornering and the brake fluid moves, try gently topping up the brake fluid it doesn't need much..

I have recently been gettin a STOP brake fault warning light and alarm on my 2003 vw passat tdi, not long had a service. it seems to come on when starting up, then periodically during the drive. havent...

I had this same problem back in November during a very cold spell.I had an appointment to have some "recall" work done on my 03 passat and told them about the STOP brake light. When I picked up my car, the dealer told me that it just needed some brake fluid??, so they filled it ! Well, I don't know about that, but I haven't seen that pesky STOP warning light since.

I have a 2000 passat. We changed the brakes and now the ABS warning light, buzzer and "service manual" keeps coming on the dash. Any ideas what it might be?? Thanks

To stop the service interval warning and sound coming on please follow the following steps.
1. insert key into ignition. 2. using right hand press and hold the odometer reset stalk. 3 using your left hand turn on the ignition ( dont start the Car) 4 now use your left hand to press the clock adjust stalk and turnit to the left. ( just advance the time by 1 minute) 5 release both stalks and then turn ignition off , then on again and your service warnig light and sound will now not appear for the next 5000 miles. ( repeat the above when it comes on again) This will also save you £30.00 for the garage to do it.
