My 91 suburban does not start or stay running , intermittantly . The fuel pump and filter was changed but the problem remains . also if I do get it started it runs fine for a while then starts bucking and stalling .
the truck has 127k on it .350 eng with throttle body inj .

I have a 91 suburban and it wont hold idle. I am waiting for and egr valve. if that fixes it i will let you know. I was told that they can have an internal vacuum leak therefore being difficult to detect.

You need to determine if it is a fuel or electrical problem. Will it keep running if you spray starting fluid into the throttle body? Check to see if the ignition system is failing by checking spark at the plugs. Possible ignition module problem. Make sure the harness to the injectors it tight.
If vehicle attempts to start but wont stay running at first and then just wont even start. You may as well break down and change the pump. But any other info will help me help you.
Is the fuel filter ok? - fuel pump ok? Sometimes a new fuel pump is faulty. You may need to check your fuel pressure. Could even be a plugged fuel return line. PS be careful using starter fluid - it can be hard on an engine. Le t m e know. Thanks
according to advance website your fuel pump is electric and inside the tank. the only pre-filter is thus the screen around the pump inlet. years of detritus can collect around them, but you are going to have to lower the tank and pull it out to see. it is 20 years old and a replacement would be in order anyhow if it has never been changed before.
Try replacing the fuel filter first and checking the fuse and relay to the fuel pump. You can get that information for Auto Zone where you can pick up the fuel filter too. Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Try pounding on the gas tank with a rubber mallet or similar tool. (careful not to dent the tank) Try starting it. If it runs, replace the fuel pump (it's nfg). I've diagnosed numerous fuel pumps this way. Remember the pump needs to be replaced, if you drive it, you don't know when it'll fail for good. Hope this helps. Please post the results.
