Yes, you can use regular gas but it wont perform as well. Long term use of a lower octane fuel can lead to other problems down the line but this is not a critical issue.

Running rough

Put some premium or high test gas in the tank and a can of Seafoam. Take it out for a good drive. Sitting for a year or so will cause the old gas to varnish in the fuel lines and injectors. Whyen you park it again, make sure there is NO regular gas in it. Regular gas with ethanol will create havoc with an engine that sits. It makes water.

Will your service engine light come on if you put different fuel in tank

The answer is NO, you have an unrelated problem that just happened to come up at the same time. Have your trouble codes checked.

I am thinking about buying a 1991 caddilac deville it has a 4.9L v8 engine. It states premuim fuel only. With the price of gas these days can I use plus 89 gas and be ok withit. I am not gonna drive it...

It's tuned to run on premium so that's what you need to use. And if you think about it, with an 18-gallon tank and calling it a 15-cent price difference between mid-grade and premium, you're looking at paying an extra $2.70 to fill it with premium from empty vs using 89.

Cadillac Starting after gas fill up

I'd first try a different gas station... and make sure you're putting in premium if required. And also make sure that you get the gas cap on right... sounds stupid but it can cause problems.

1996 cadillac deville want start

If you had a strong stream of gas shooting out then you may have an fuel injector problem. Possibly a clogged injector or bad injector. If the stream of gas was weak replace fuel filter first and test again. If problem persists check pump fuse then replace pump. sorry for miss reading your post.

Service engine light came on after i put in gas other than premium

Your car does not require premium fuel. If you have a lead foot and live in a hilly area, it's possible you're causing knock. Best bet... check that your gas cap is tight.
