indicates a problem oil pressure sender unit
have the oil pressure checked using a mechanical pressure gauge and if OK then replace the sender unit or gauge
It could be the oil pressure sending unit, or the engine could really have no oil pressure. If the oil pressure dropped to zero at highway speed, I would expect the engine to lock up or at least make alot of noise. You may have to tow it home and check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, or replace the sending unit to see if the gauge on the dash reads pressure. The fuel pump gets power from the pump relay at startup, then runs off power from that oil sending unit when the engine is running.
first you will have to say what the oil pressure is cold, idle and 2000 rpms and then hot idle and 2000 rpms before a decision to advise about a rebuild can be made
there are many reasons oil pressure can drop and not all require a rebuild
oil pump gears inside the lower engine, or electrical. 1st make sure its full on oil, then sheck it with another pressure guage to confirm its not actuall pressure.
No it is a fail safe. When your oil pressure drops below (on most cars) 30 psi your computer will shut your fuel pump down until you either let it sit for a while and it resets or until oil pressure builds again. Sorry!
Locate your oil pressure sending sensor... generally near the oil filter intake but not always... give it a spray of WD40 to repel any water on it. next have the oil pressure tested just to be certain. the relay for the sending unit may need to be replaced as well... it's located likely in the fuse box in the engine compartment near the battery.

your oil pump is either weak or there is sludge i9n the oil pan. my adives is to have the oil pan dropped . chances are sludge is the culprit. as the oil get's warm the pressure should only drop slightly but pressure is generally dictated by engine rpm. pumps are gear driven so if it was a bad pump your oil pressure would start out very low at start up.
