So we took our 2003 Chevy S-10 truck into a local shop to get new seals as we had transmission fluid leaking. The truck was working properly when we took it in. When we went to pick it up they told us that now the truck won't shift past 2nd gear. They said they replaced the transmission fluid that was in there and put new transmission fluid in. They also say now that there are fuses that are shorting out (which were working fine when we brought in the truck). They would test drive the truck on the road and said it won't shift properly. We also heard a loud bang as they pulled the truck back in. Also when they would shift to reverse the truck and then shift to drive it it would make weird noises like it wasn't working properly. Is the reason why the truck won't shift due to the new transmission fluid? Could the fluid and transmission problem affect the fuses on the truck? Also, is the loud bang that we heard a result of the truck trying to shift? Does that loud bang also mean that something bad happened to our transmission?

A transmission that has wear tends to leak and a fluid change may not help instead make matters worst and the loud sound is bad news yes the transmission build pressure and blew it it's not common to blow fusses that unless is the fuse for the transmission or they disturbed any wire harness.

Flush your car's transmission fluid , but don't do it yourself or at local shops take it to Toyota and have them replace fluid and filter . Reason why they use special pumps to extract all fluids properly . And actually replace it correctly other shops the only thing they will do is drop the oil pan and drain the fluid in the oil pan only . There is still fluid all over the lines and torque converter . Recommend dealer all the way , it's only 10-30 $. Different .besides you get genuine parts and fluids . Good luck I hope this help .

Probably the front seal on the transmission between the input shaft and the torque convertor but it could be the pump seal. Either way, the transmission has to be removed to repair it.

u get a second look your self by looking at the transmission u dont have to take anything apart to find the leak the oil pan is easy so check that one first if u see any fluid on or around the pan then the seal is shot that dont mean the tranny will burn up, just keep an eye on the fluid level second the rear transmission seal is located at the back of the tranny where the rear drive shaft slips into the transmission if you notice fluid around there and on the drive shaft thats leaking also but like i said just because u have a few minor leaks dont mean the tranny will blow up just as long as you keep an eye on the fluid level. do your home work and find a good transmission shop that will gaureentee the there work at a decent price.

I just took my 06 jeep cherokee to the shop, because it is leaking trans fluid like crazy. Am I more than likely going to need a new transmission or is there a less expensive alternative even possible?
it could be the transmission pan gasket that is leaking. if so replace gasket and refill with tranny fluid to proper level.

Take it to a transmission specialist not one of the franchised ones a local guy call you local AAA office and get their opinion for this have the all the shops give you a written estimate. If you do need a transmission, it will be expensive

2003 Hyundai Tiburon Leaking Transmission Seal
The beaings job is to not only give the axle something to rotate on, but also the keep the axle centered in the hole. When the bearing gets loose, it allows the axle shaft to have an oblong roation, which wears on the seal and allows it to leak. You don't have to run the trans low on fluid to have the output bearings go bad. If you have gone enough miles to wear out a clutch, you have gone enough miles to get some play in the bearings.

Leaking transmission fluid
Yes, The soleniod pack is located on the outside of the transmission. There are a few bolts holding it on and a seal or o ring gasket behind it. The lines mght look corroded and rusted, but if they are not leaking then leave them alone. The inside of the line is just fine. You may borrowing trouble trying to replace them. The fitting and line could be brittle. You may have to purchase the solenoid pack from the dealer not sure. I would check you local auto parts store for the part first. Once the solenoid pack is replace, The tranmission might have to be reset to correct settings. The transmission can be reset by your local transmission shop. The transmission shop may do the repairs for a lot less then the dealer. I would inquire for an estiamate from your transmission shop just in case.

Spark Plugs
The oil on the spark plug usually comes from the valve cover seal or the spark plug tube. The valve cover seals to the tube and the tube seals to the head. The tube is usually a tight fit in to the head with a little sealant. The tubes can be purchased at the chrysler dealer or possibly at a local parts store. As for the red fluid,it is automatic transmission fliud . It is used in the manual transmission as well as the power steering system. You could have an axle seal leak, transmission shifter seal leak, power steering seal leak, depending on which side of the vehicle is wet.

Manual Transmission Filter?
The Borg Warner T-5 manual transmission has no filter. Assuming the leak is not really the rear main seal of the engine leaking, which is more likely, then it leaking from the front of the transmission. You will need to drop the transmission to get to the front seal on the first motion shaft. Unless you are really mechanically inclined or have a friend who is, leave it to a good shop.
