GM does have a recall for this issue on some vehicles. You will have to call and ask. But if they won't fix it then it will need to be repaired. ask mechanics in your area who repairs the clusters. most mechanics should know where. or check for internet for a company. It is advisable that you fix what you have because everything is programmed for your truck.. a different dash may be different in features and not work properly for you. We repair many clusters here and this is one of the most common problems these trucks have.

Gas gague not working in 93 gmc sierra

The fuel level gage sending unit is defective, very common problem. The sending unit comes with a new fuel pump and is referred to as a module, also make darn sure you replace the fuel pump connector at the fuel tank, solder and shrink tube the new connector on, DO NOT USE CRIMP CONNECTORS.

My 97 GMC sierra doesn't have a fuel rail or a valve to hook up fuel gage. I was told to hook up at fuel filter. will this work

It should have a valve. However, as I have a 96 I can tell you to start with dropping the tank and replacing the pump, I have to do this every 4 to 5 years on mine. NAPA is the best choice and longest lasting part its been about 4 years on my last change and counting...;) Everyone I know who has this truck has to endure this problem.

My truck seems to be running to rich on fuel when starting after it is warmed up, cold starts are fine. 1999 gmc

There is a possibility that your temperature sending unit for the computer is not working correctly. ( not the sending unit for the gage, there are two). If the computer never knows that the engine warms up, it will keep "choking" and over fueling. Thus, the black spark plugs.

GMC Yokon XL Fuel gage

Problem may be with the level sending unit, which is part of the fuel pump assembly in the fuel tank. You can check this with a good code reader that will give you live data from this unit and compare it with what the gauge is saying. If they don't match, you can try a good quality fuel system cleaner to see if that solves the problem. If they do match, then the problem is probably still in your instrument panel (IP) or engine computer.
