Service engine soon light is on indicating a problem with your engine. Take it to somewhere like Autozone (it is free to check code) to see what the code and problem is, then fix the problem or the light would just keep coming on every time till it is fixed.. You can use a scanner to read and reset the light, code.

oxygen sensors are not serviced by mileage on newer models. When the sensor starts to fail, the "check engine" light will go on. Pulling codes will indicate problem areas. On a good running engine, you may never have to replace the O2 sensor,
Take the car to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve any fault code(s) stored in the car's computer. The service engine light comes on when the computer has detected a fault in one of the car's systems. Most parts stores will perform the scan at no charge. This depends on which light you are reffering to. There is a sercive engine soon light, and a service vehicle soon light, as well as other warnig lights.
if it truly set code for "loose fuel cap" or po455 large leak, then tightening the cap and driving a couple days should reset on its own. if not then get it checked for free at autozone and report back with code # and can help from there. they'll ck for free but are not allowed to reset.
this is your check engine light when the computer see's that a sensor or actuator is out of range it will set a code that can be retreeved by using a scan tool.
