You are going to need to borrow some tools or go out and buy some to run some quick tests. If the misfire is in cylinder 1 ONLY, the easiest thing to do is to check spark, (spark plug tester).
On VW's a faulty injector or faulty fuel delivery will cause a cylinder misfire. A simple low fuel level in your tank while turning can cause the fuel to shift away from the fuel pump and cause a misfire. Hook up a VAG 1552 or equivalent scan tool to properly find out where your problem is located using the DTC code that might be stored in the ecu. I wouldn't do the typical remove wire and see if spark is present, this can eventually fry your expensive ecu. It's a VW and not an American car.

This could be a bad cam sensor that hasnt gone yet. It would explain why you are running to lean.
