Coolant leak on 99 Ford Taurus

I found the hose that is leaking engine coolant. It is at the rear of the engine at a t connection. This hose runs along the backside. I am not sure on how to take this hose off. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I to have the same problem with the coolant leak in my 99 Ford Taurus. We have tried putting coolant in about 3 or 4 times only to have it leak out. The last thing we tried was to have some dye installed to try and find the leak with no sucess.

There is coolant leaking in the rear of the oil pan but before the transmission pan. I can't see where the leak is. any help?

I have no idea where it's coming from, but my boyfriend thinks it's the rad. It's right under the coolant reservoir which keeps leaking every time we've filled it up and had the engine running.

I to have the same problem with the coolant leak in my 99 Ford Taurus. We have tried putting coolant in about 3 or 4 times only to have it leak out. The last thing we tried was to have some dye installed to try and find the leak with no success. My leak was not discovered until it was too late. The transmission cooling part of the radiator got a leak. It allowed coolant to get into the transmission. I was pulling away from a stop light and blew the sun gear apart in the tranny. In short, check tranny fluid. If it is milky, change the tranny fluid and get a new radiator before it's too late. Wound up costing me $2000 for a tranny. Good luck.

I have a 1999 ford taurus and my question is i have a leak under the car on the drivers side. i checked the thermostat and it seems to be fine. it is not overheating. i checked the coolant and it was...

Yes this could be a hose, a heaterhose, fill the cooling system and run the engine so that preasure build then before it gets hot shut it down and look for mhoses and squeeze them and try to locate coolant coming out , a preasure tester would be a great tool to find this leak but by you squeezing the hoses you should find the leak or even when the engine runs it may push water out, or sometimes when filling the system you can find the leak. hope this is helpful.

99 FORD TAURUS antifreeze is leaking from hose that goes from the overflow tank to top of engine. hose starts as rubber then metal over engine then back to rubber. part that leaks is connection to top of...

How about just get a piece of auto hose at the parts tore and clamp it on there. A lot of rubber parts are not dealer items, just shelf items. There are a bunch of different hoses, some reinforced, oil and gas proof, high temp, rubber, nylon, etc, etc. Just get a good one of the right diameter. Hope this helps.

I have a 2001 ford taurus and i have antifreeze coming out of the firewall. to me it looks like a plug is missing . has anybody ever seen this before

Yep - if the coolant is inside the car, you've got a bad heater core. The inlet and outlet ports go through the firewall into the engine compartment and connect to hoses there. If the leak is in the engine compartment, the hoses may be cracked from age and leaking.

My 99 ford taurus is registering that it has low coolant on the dash board. its leaking a little under the passenger front side under the hood. i also smell somthing like burning, hot under the hood also

Could very well be coolant, depending on what color your using, orange, green whatever, but it should feel a little oily when you rub it between your fingers. Top up your bottle in the meantime, and have it checked, before it does worse, more expensive/extensive damage to your engine.

My 2001 ford taurus is leaking coolant on the firewall side of the engine. is there a coolant hose on that side that could be leaking?

It could be a hose on top of the engine leaking back there. It could also be a freeze plug on the back of the engine. Its a round disk about 2-3" in diameter and is recessed about 3/8" into the block. Check those out and make sure all hoses are good and tight. Any hoses that are kind of puffed out above the clamp should be replaced

POSSIBLE LEAK FROM THE TUBE CONNECTED TO THE FIREWALL.

pipe going to the fire wall is usualy the cabin heater. for the time being there should be 2 hoses going to the fire wall coolant in/out. remove them from the pipe on the fire wall and blank them off or if the hose is split replace them. it could be the heater core but that usualy leaks into the cab.
