(4x4, 5.3, 4L60E trans.) Was driving down the road at 55 mph and lost all transmission function. checking all solenoids found the 1-2 ss valve to be damaged. would this cause reverse to stop working?

You need to find the fuel pressure release around the fuel rail press the little tab when the car dies. If there is no fuel coming out from that point, your fuel pump is going.

Chevy cavalier dies

didnt specify the year but some of the older 90s the torque converter clutch solenoid [ tcc ] failing or connector problem you can disconnect it and drive i believe the 95 and down can be replaced by unscrewing it from case --others are inside unit

Why does my 2001 cavalier die when coming to a stop?

If it dies when you are coming to a stop after being on the freeway, chances are the torque converter solenoid is sticking in the transmission.
If it is doing it around town, I would look at the throttle body and idle air control valve. The computer controls idle speed by regulating air flow into the throttle body.

I have a 97 chevy cavalier with a 2.2 liter engine and an automatic trans. i replaced the head gasket and it ran fine for about a month. Then it suddenly started sputtering and stalling, it also had a loss...

you need to take the car to a muffler shop and have the catylitic converter changed... the converter is stopped up not letting the exaust leave the engine thus stopping it.

While driving my 2003 chevy cavalier the engine will die right before the car comes to a complete stop. Sometimes at happens at low speeds when not giving any gas.

it sounds like a dirty throttle body. Just spray clean with throttle body cleaner. Or it could be a plugged air filter...not getting enough air. Or possible fuel filter needs to be changed.

Car dies when slowing down or turning.

Have the idle air control valve checked.
