You cannot repair the leak until you determine where it is leaking. More than likely it is leaking from the oil filter, oil pressure sending unit, or valve cover gasket. Check around the oil filter for a leaks and if you see oil on the filter then replace it. Check the oil pressure sending unit and if it is leaking replace it. Wipe all the oil off the bottom of the engine and any other place you see oil. Now place newspapers on the floor under the car and then start the engine and let it run for about 10 minutes and then shut down. Wait overnight and you can see where the leak is coming from.

Try putting a dry piece of cardboard down and then park over top of it. That will allow you to find where it's dripping from at least. Then you will just have to get under and follow the drip to see exactly where it's coming from. If your oil filter isn't on tight enough or is old it will drip from there. Could be the oil pan too if the gasket is bad. But first you will just have to follow the oil drips to see if it's leaking on a hose, or something up top, then running down and dripping or if it's coming directly from filter or pan. When you find out the source that should lead you to what the cause is.

1996 Toyota Camry idles high randomly?

Check and see if it has thrown any codes. Autozone will hook up their OBD for free. My thinking it is a sensor or a vacuum leak. Good luck.

I have a huge oil leak in my 98 Toyota Camry It leaks roughly 1 qt of oil for each hour of driving. What would be the cost of repair?

Need to find out where leak is from. Kinda sounds like a crankshaft main seal, front or rear of engine. Front one is pretty easy to change, but rear main seal leak means you have to drop transmission to get to it. But it could be another seal or gasket. Can you tell about where leak is, from oil spills on ground where parked? Look at engine. Is oil seeming to leak from bottom end or upper engine. May need to wipe or clean it off to see where fresh oil leak develops. A mechanic may need to put it on a car lift to pinpoint the leak. Good luck.

My 1995 toyota camry is leaking oil. how can i fix it? and what is causing the oil to leak?

You need to determine where you leak is coming from, as several possible areas could be the source. Just to give you an idea, your leak could be coming from you oil plug, a leaking oil pan, a leaking main bearing, a leaking value cover, and a few other locations. Jack up your car and check to see if you can spot the origin of the leak and then resubmit a question to FixYa for a solution.

I have a toyota 1996 camry and I notice that it is very hard to steer and turn the steering wheels. i also notice that there was little or no power steering fluid in the container.

SR you just found the problem a leak in the power steering system, check the floor were you park the car every day, there steering fluid by the driver side the problem is the steering rack, there is fluid by the engine passenger side, pressure line, banjo fitting, return line, and also steering rack, the best thing to do is clean the oily area, refill reservoir drive it and check for a fresh leak.

Toyota Camry 1995 model. Oil leaking, How to fix it? recommend a place where i can fix this problem. how much it will cost?

How to fix it and how much will it costs will depend on where the leak is. Best thing to do is observe on the floor the exact spot of the dripping , and then trace upwards to see where it comes from. Most common oil leakage is from improperly screwed oil filter or gasket seal on said filter. Distributor seal is another source of leakage and also valve cover gaskets. When you say "leaking" i assume it is an external leak. If oil consumption can be visible in the exhaust, such as white smoke, it is a different story altogether.

My 96 toyota camry smokes when i start it .

automotive shops sell this stuff called honey. Its super thick oil that might slow down the leak. If the leak is coming from your oil pan try tightening the 10 or twelve small bolts around the oil pan. only go a half a turn on each so you dont smash your gasket or seal.

Oil leak problem with 1996 toyota camry

I am going to see a mechanic - my trusted mechanic who does not nickel and dime me - to see what this is. I have the same problem and he told me he has never done this job on a Camry and is unsure. Given the miles, he has suggested that maybe it is time to part ways with the car. I am going to ask him if he will put some florescent dye in it and let me drive it for 50-100 mi and then check to see where the leak is and fix it. Let you know what happens. I have to try, the car is solid.
