2001 Santa Fe - About 5 ago I lost my car key with the immobiliser on it, and had a spare (without a immobiliser) and of course everytime I unlocked the car, the alarm would go off. After persistant unlocking the car (manually by key) the alarm stopped and I could start the car as usual. Only just recently I went to the shop, turned the car off and it wouldnt start. There are dash lights etc and a single click when i turn the key on and nothing. It will jump start (with the help of friends pushing me). After a long drive (thinking it could be the battery) I turned the car off, and the same thing happens....just a click. PLEASE HELP...

It needs a new pruge valve. The purge valve is sticking open allowing fuel vapors into the intake manifold causing a rich hard start condition.

SOURCE: hi,immobiliser problem?battery went flat,,managed to

Hi it sounds like you have done everything you can do, it now looks like your going to need to get the immobilizer reset, this can be done at most garages but its best if you shop around to see the best price you can get as its not cheap.

have you tried locking the door with the key and then opening it with the key then try the car see if it will work.

failing that its going to need the imob re-programming so that it accepts your key fob, it may just be that you need the fob replacing as the chip inside could have failed they will be able to test all this for you.

let me know if you need further assistance, not that theirs much more i can do without being their with the equipment to test the immobilizer, hopefully it will just be the fob that needs replacing.

you could just try one last thing when you get in the car and put the key in the ignition try holding the fob as close as you can to the ignition barrel as this is where it picks the signal up from so try holding it close to their and see if that then lets you start the car

failing that its going to be a trip to the garage.

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

SOURCE: The immobiliser has cut in

Yes. Usually there is a reset switch on the immobilizer. It pops up when it is triggered, just push it back in and it will click and you should be ok. They are usually located on the firewall inside the car on the drivers or passengers side.
