I'm assuming you mean the door under the dash that controls your heat. I had the exact same problem, yes it was the heater control valve, the repair was 285.00 approx 3 years ago. The tech that replaced it told me it is a common problem for the Galant. He said that if you keep your temp selector on either all hot or all cold that it keeps constant pressure on the plastic gear teeth in the valve. As they break off one by one you begin to hear that clicking noise as the dont catch. When you finally break off the last one it stops working.

According to him if you always leave the dial at least one notch from fully hot or fully cold you will not experience a failure of the switch. I have followed his advise and have had no further problems.

As for is it easily fixed.....no, the heater control valve needs to be replaced. I looked into doing it myself but thought better of it. Its buried deep in the dash and most of the passenger side must be removed and I still couldn't figure out how to get it out.

I have a 04 galant. The heater won't blow hot air. Went to a repair shop and they said it was temperature control (the control knobs in the car). Replaced that and it still doesn't work. What else can it...

It does blow correct? Just not hot air? This shop replaced the control head (the unit that the knobs are connected to)? I'm assuming the answer to all is yes. There may be a jam. Not too common but I've seen it a couple times. There are doors within the air box under your dash where your blower motor and heater core are. The control head controls these doors, opening one vent door to outside air and/or to the evaporator, closing the other vent door to the heater core or vise versa. It also controls the doors which direct air to certain ducts that will blow out the selected vents. If something has been droped down through a vent and worked its way to these doors I'm talking about, it could jam the door closed that goes to the heater core, preventing heat from blowing through the ducts.

Heater not blowing hot air

Sounds like the heater blend door. The actuator may be stuck or broken. The actuator opens and closes to adjust for the heat setting in the car. You might be able to take a coathanger and manually open the door if you can get to the control arm. They are usually hard to get to and pretty expensive. It is located under the dash at the heater core box. Good luck.

No heat, heater core is good, blower moter works

Check the operation of the heater control valve. If it doesn't open up no heat. If the cable moves the control on the valve take the valve off and check it manually. The lever may work but the valve still doesn't open.

Driver door unable to lock or open using the remote - 2002 Galant

If you can unlock it with the key,and not the remote, then it sounds like the lock actuator is not working in that door.In order to check it, the door panel has to come off.
