Carburator - 1986 Chevrolet Nova

You should be replacing with the proper carburattuer or get the old one reconditioned

It should be near the carburator. A line that feeds your Carburator comes from the fuel filter area. it has to go through your filter first than to your carburator unless its missing a filter. Just follow the gas line

This is a very hard carburator to adjust best to take it to a carburator shop and let them deal with it.

If you smell fuel in your carburator I would check to see if you are getting spark to the plugs.

You can take starter fluid and spray into carburator and see if motor fires, if it does you may have a fuel pump problem.

What Carburator ?

There haven't been carburators
on vehicles for 25 years !!

Is your vehicle carburated or fuel injected? You don't have both, and solutions to these very different types of fuel systems vary greatly.

If the carburator has never been rebuilt, or the plugs that were installed at the factory have never been removed, you need to remove those plugs, there is one for each idle mixture screw, at the front of the base plate on the bottom of the carburator, 1 for the TPS adjustment on the driver side front of the carburator, and one for the mixture control solenoid on top of the carburator, in the middle, towards the front.

You'll need to disconnect the fuel line at the front of the carburator. Disconnect the vacuum line at the back of the carburator going to the brake booster. Label and remove the vacuum hoses. Unplug the mixture control solenoid connector, the TPS connector and the connector to the automatic choke. Unbolt the 4 13mm bolts holding the carburator to the intake and remove the carburator.

YOUR CAR DOESN'T HAVE A CARBURATOR YOUR CAR HAS INJECTORS 4 OF THEM ONE FOR EACH CYLINDER. SO NO NEED TO BUY A CARBURATOR. HOPE THIS HELPED
