I have a 2000 Cadillac Deville DTS and the check engine light started to flash, i went to scan it and it said that cylinder 8 was misfireing. checked the coil pack and its fine, check the spark plug and its fine. next i switched that plug with another one and cleared the code to see if the light would come back on for a diferent cylinder, the light came back on the same cylinder, number 8, what do i do next?

DO SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES CHANGE IF NOT HAVE DONE TUNE UP IN A LONG WHILE. CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS.CLOGGED FUEL INJECTORS WILL CAUSE CYLINDER MISFIRE ALSO.

Welcome to the Cadillac world. These are the second worst to work on when it comes to computers/wiring. Mercedes are the worst. Diagnostic time at my house is $300(tells you what is wrong). I refuse to do them at work, they don't charge enough and I get yelled at for taking to much time. Just take it to a dealer.

when a check engine light is flashing it means you have serious problem that could cause major damage like lots of misfires from poor tune up components which will cause a clogged catalyic converter or a lean condition which could burn valves stop driving it and have it scanned
Sir if the check engine ligh is flashing that indicates a PO300 code which is a missfire code. To determine which cylinder you will need a scanner to find out. The problem could be a failed sparkplug, a failed ignition module for that bank, a failed injector. At any rate it will require trouble shooting to diagnosis. Wish I could help more. Thank you

Usually the only problem that will make the check engine light flash is a cylinder misfire. You need to have someone scan your car to see what codes are stored to help you troubleshoot the problem. It could be something simple, like a bad spark plug, or wire, or another engine component, like an ignition module or similar, but you won't know for sure till you scan your codes. Most auto parts stores, such as auto zone, will do this for free. THen you can start your hunt , based on what they tell you.!
