I have the same problem which happened recently; engine light stays on, speedometre, water temp guage, rev guage all stop working yet car works fine. Nothing reported when running diagnostic. Spoke to Ford Dealer who said this could indicate instrument cluster or vehicle speed sensor and quoted £250 to fix everything all in. Would anyone agree with this or is there a cheaper fix?

A common problem on the 2003 focus are the electrics, i had a problem recently where the displays where not functioning, i took off the panel, checked the iso connector and before putting it back in i gave it a quick spray with wd40 and it al seemed to work, been in contact with the garage and for a new unit with callibration you are looking about £140 or so with labour and parts

Check your wiring connectors for loose wires. use a safety pin and push all the wires in from the back.

How do I fix my gauges? (Ie, gas gauge, temp gauge, speedometer, odometer)

Fuses? Blown fusible link? Most gauges work by getting 12 volts from the ignition switch when on, and getting a ground from the sender. Often the 12 volt supply wire goes to more than one so if dead, both will fail. If you have a wiring diagram, you might find which wire to cluster should be hot, and trace it backward to find the issue. Easier to check for ignition switch feed first.

I have a 1998 Pontiac bonneville se with 218k miles on it. Tachometer works fine. Speedometer works fine. Odometer works fine. Gas gauge, oil pressure, battery, and temp gauges are all fine. Trip meter...

If I had a 1998 car with 218K miles on it and an unimportant thing like the trip meter didn't work I would put a piece of black tape over it and use a GPS as my trip meter.

My 2003 ford focus speedometer stops working sometimes as does the elecyric odometer- sometimes both at same time. Other gauges work fine. The odometer goes to just dashes in place of the actual mileage...

Usually if both the odometer and speedometer stop working, the problem is the speed sensor on the transmission. You should also have a trouble code in the engine computer.
If one component works but the other does not, the problem is usually the speedometer head in the dash.

first we will start will the fuel gauge most likely you are correct chevys and 1995 and older jeep wranglers had this problem the sending units failed very commonly. you could have possibly gotton another bad cluster but most likely the speed sensor has worn out. it has a plastic gear being turned by a metal gear and is located near the tail of the transmission. hope this helps

Electrical failure of instruments (temp & fuel gauges, speedometer & rev counter) on 52reg ford focus. All fuses intact. What's the problem?

Check the temp sensor wire that goes to the engine. They will short out to engine and make the dash do strange things.

The odometer and trip odometer for my 1996 ford explorer stop working. However, the speed still works. Any suggestions??

The gear in the speedometer assembly is broken causing the odometer and trip odometer to be inop. You can either buy a new speedo head or buy a gear kit from an online source (google Ford speedo odometer inop)for the kit.

I have a 1995 Mustang. The speedometer and all

The gear for the odometer has broken. If you are mechanically inclined you should be able to replace the gear yourself. Google mustang odometer inop .You can buy the gear. Good luck.

The dashboard

You may have a couple separate concerns. The fuel gauge if it is on empty may have a hole in the float. The speedometer odometer and trip meter is probably a broken gear in the speedo assembly. If the speedometer itself works it is getting a signal from the speed sensor.
