2000 Nissan Sentra 1.8L. High mileage (330,000 plus miles). May take 5min or longer to start cold- acts like it's not firing one or more cylinders. Once it starts there's a big cloud like it was flooded. Starts fine all day once it's been started in the morning. Injectors replaced, coils & plugs replaced. #4 has a continuous knock under load & error code shows misfiring. Likes to stall at stoplights.

You probably have a weak spark plug or injector.
You should get a check engine light and if you have the computer scanned you should have a code telling you which cylinder is not firing.
The problem is there at idle but not as serious as when you put a load on the engine.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the sight.A timing chain can last 100,000 miles or more. Some can last the life of the vehicle. Here is the thing though. If it breaks, you are not going nowhere and it can cause engine damage. If you have the money and time, plus it is over 100,000, go ahead and have it done. whats the new code? is it the same o2 sensor? you could have a vacuum leak causing it to set the same code. is your air filter clean? whens the last time you changed the fuel filter? had plugs installed in a long time? start with these items. they could all effect your fuel mileage. hope this helps

i have the same problem and my mechanic told me that it was the camshaft position sensor wire plug and sensor but its still the same, let me know if you find out what it is

I would check that spark plug, and have that coil checked or replaced. Also check for any vacuum hose leaks in the area of the cylinder.

you hit the nail on the head ,cold and silicone chips ,they do not like the cold weather they can be temperamental to say the least ,as for finding the faulty component you will need an identical car that works ok ,then when yours will not start try swopping bits till you hit the one causing the problem.or sell it for a nice manual diesel version,

I would recommend a thorough throttle body and injector cleaning. If you have 70K plus miles on the vehicle, combustion deposits build up on the back side of the throttle body and plate as well as the ends of the fuel injectors. When the build up is sufficient enough it will block the area of the throttle body blade that allows air into the engine for starting.
The deposits also build up on the injector tips and distort the fuel spray pattern that will cause a delayed starting problem.
Have them both cleaned along with a fuel filter change and your car will be back to normal.

tork converter is locking out see if you can unplug it as a quick fix it will be a round plug on the training should fix the problem but remember its only temporary as to you will lose overdrive and kill gas mileage by 5-6 miles a gallon but it wont damage anything
