Left rear tail light will not burn when brake pedal is depressed, blinker function does not work as well. Replaced flasher unit and bulb. Tail light burns only when headlights are on. (checked) fuses, connectors and blinker switch.
Just found the answer on another site. Sure enough went out removed the 3 philips head screws in the steering column opened it up and walla a wire connection had pulled itself free. When my son uses my truck he always uses the tilt steering, when I get in I have to readjust it. because of this the wire connection pulled itself out. I simply pushed it back in an blinker and brake light are now working. My husband is now trying to figure a way to secure the wire connection so it doesn't pull itself out again. Hope this helps others, either by saving the cost of a dealership or machanic or from getting rear ended.

both tail lights out, and rear t/s....changed both bulbs and fuses, lights burn when front headlights are on...nothing when break peddle is pressed.
I have a 2002 Sport Trac. Left rear blinker and break light will not work. I have changed all of the bulbs & checked the fuses. Wondering if it is in the harness, plug in connections or possibly the switch itself. I don't have a manual (yet) to figure out the wiring or where to even look for the connections in the wiring harness. Afraid I will have to tear out the seats and carpeting to try to find the wires. Yikes!!
my 99 light explorer have tail light, dash light but no headlight
