1996 Town and Country LXi - AC cold then hot

Hi there. I say your post to the previous question. My AC works fine for a while...then all of a sudden it shifts to full hot. I can hear the internal baffes change position, but, when it happens, the controls have no effect. I figure it has to be an issue with either the controls, sensors, computer or actuators (vacuum or servo-based?), but I don't know how to effectively isolate the issue. Can you advise on a course of action or good troubleshooting resources? Thanks!

SOURCE: need the location of the fuel filter fora 1996

It will either be inside the gas tank (real pain) or it'll be in front of the gas tank recessed into the frame.

SOURCE: blower motor stuck on high! 2001 town &country

your blower resister is bad and you need to replace it.......heres how,The glove box can be lowered all the way out of the way just by pulling in the sides so the rubber stoppers come out toward you. The sides bend easily to allow that.

The glove box being out reveals the resistor in the heating duct right in front of you. Just remove the two sets of wires and two bolts (10mm socket, I think) and the resistor pack slides right out. Then bolt in the new one an plug the wires back in (they only fit in one way). Fold the glove box back up and press the stops in to get them back in place and you are done.

The resistor pack only cost $12 and change at my dealer. It is part number 1-04885583AB which was a replacement for the same number with AA at the end, so I’m guessing they had a lot of trouble with the AAs and so made a better AB.

Last Winter my heater blower fan worked only on High. I changed the front heater/AC blower resistor pack and was surprised at how easy it is, but I had to figure it out for myself since my Dealer's parts guy was no help as to where the part lived and my Haynes manual was just plain wrong. This was on a 2001 T+C. I'd be very surprised if the 2001 Caravan was any different. Don't know what other year vans would be the same. I do know some earlier generations had this resistor under the hood and Haynes had is with the blower sort of behind the instrument cluster.

Where is the camshaft sensor located on 1996 Chrysler town and country lxi

Well the sensor should be on the drivers side just under the valve cover and it looks like a circle with a plug in it.I think your problem though is the timing belt is off a tooth it will run fine but being a tooth off will keep that light on.

Heat ...ac 2000 town and country

Sounds like more than one issue. 17 year old Chrysler, so it is not a surprise. Blend door actuator, HVAC power head are possibilities. If this is still powered by vacuum lines, they could have leaks at this age and nothing will work right. This all could require dash removal of various degrees to test and repair.

My 2006 Chrysler Town and Country Limited has an air conditioning issue that even the dealership cant figure out...With the AC on and circulating and the van running it will begin blowing cold then all of...

your clue that it is ridiculously hot indicates that the problem is in the climate control module
it indicates that it is cycling the thermostat or you have a faulty thermostat that is cycling the climate control module
take it to an accredited ac specialist shop for a proper diagnosis

AC does not get as cold

Not a job for a do-it-yourselfer. Head to a QUALIFIED Auto Shop. It may have a leak that needs repairing before you have it recharged....
