I wish to replace the standard system with the higher spec 6cd/mp3/radio.I have obtained the replacement unit from another Patriot together with the anti theft code if needed.
Is this straight forward or do I need to take it to my local Jeep dealer?
thanks,
Steve
It is pretty easy if you have a few tools and know how to use them.
1-You need to pry off the trim bezel. There are just snaps holding it on, but be careful you do not pull too hard or scratch it. Use a plastic stick or small srewdriver covered with tape.
2-There will be 4 bolts at each corner of the radio to remove.
3-Pull out the radio and and remove all the connectors and the AM/FM antenna plug.
4-Reconnect your new radio and repeat steps 2 and 1.
I did this same upgrade on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it worked without the need for a theft code.
