I just changed my honda element 2005 transmission fluid 2wks ago.I woke up this morning, start the car and put the gear stick to drive but the car will not move.What could be the problem? It is an automatic tranny.The gear stick moves from park to reverse, neutral and drive but the car won't move. I hope i wont have to change the tranny?

First check you fluid level while the auto is sitting level, warmed up and in Park. If that doesn't help you, then I found this earlier posting of the same issue and something here might help. *** anyone have the same problem??? **** out of nowhere the D/drive light started flashing. Took it out of gear to neutral, the nuetral light comes on but the D light is still flashing. Turned the engine off, started it back up and everything is back to normal. Normal for a month, then it happened again. Turned off the engine off, restarted and everything is back to normal. The car shifts / drives like normal all the time. Nonetheless too it to a shop, and they tried to pull the codes, but got nothing. I think it has to go to the Honda dealer to read the code. I had the same thing happen. I decided to check my fluid level first, sure enough it didn't even register on the stick. I just needed fluid. Shifted to neutral, or any other gear, and light still kept blinking. Pulled off the road and turned off the engine. Restarted engine, blinking light was gone. Didn't reappear as I drove on to the destination. Checked the display at lunch, no blinking light present. Also checked the transmission fluid level, no problems there. It sounds like it may be another one of Honda's infamous phantom faults that they want to charge about a hundred bucks to say they don't know why, and that they reset all the codes so it shouldn't be a problem, Perhaps they believe they should get a hundred dollars from every Honda owner periodically, so they just program the codes to come on randomly, and not show up in the history, so nobody else can find them. Yes, I am more than somewhat skeptical of the major auto industry these days, this isn't the first instance of phantom codes, but they still charge you for their poor design and poor information. If they really cared about owners, they would leave some of the usless info out of the owners guide and put in a table of all the codes and light illuminations, with the radio or dash readout connected so the codes could be displayed for the owner. Then we would know if it is a critical thing, or simply a friendly reminder that an oil change is needed, or something of that sort. Why all the mistery? A HUNDRED BUCKS, OF COURSE!!!!!! David answered 2 months ago Same problem on my 2007 Pilot LX. Changed fluid (never get this transmission or any transmission flushed!) - takes 3 cycles to get transmission fluid completed. Only one done so far. Light still comes on and will not register a transmission code. Mechanic tells me not to worry unless you sense there is a genuine problem with shifting. Light may have to be on for a very long time for a code to register. JB1974 answered 2 months ago I had the same problem on my 2005 Pilot. The code read "4th gear clutch pressure sensor". My son is a mechanic and I told him that it shifted fine and he said that if the pressure is not right on the 4th gear band in the transmission, it could wears uneven or even out and that could mean alot more money fixing the transmission

Frist check and see if your hoses are on and if any plugs are off. make sure your tranz fluid is up. and the right one for your p/u check your dip stick for right fluid

must be an internal gear problem take to a KIA dealer as they will probably know of a fault

CODE 37 TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT. I WOULD DO ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE.BECAUSE THE LUCAS OIL COULD BE TOO THICK FOR TRANSMISSION. CAUSING HARD SHIFTING.CHANGE FLUID AGAIN SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

I drive a Mits Outlander 2005 4WD Auto-transmission (see image).
This morning, I put it in D-Drive but it didnt move.
R-Reverse moves but after a chug sound.

Called a mech over the phone, he says something about a "fibre" in the tranny that need to be replaced.

Thinking back, I changed the timing-belt when it snapped last Wednesday.

Then last Saturday, while filling the AC gas, another mech checked and noticed that the front shafts had damaged plastic covers that were replaced. But ATF fluid dripped from the tranny thru the removed shafts.

While topping the ATF, this fluid spilled on some wire harness and wire-sockets on the tranny next to the dip-stick opening.

This morning, when the D-Drive failed to move the car, I noticed an extra dull glow of the green light on N-Neutral on the dash-board indicator when the stick is in the D-Drive position.
No Check-Engine light came up.

Can this spilled ATF on these cable cause the tranny to fail like this?

What can I do to correct it?

Hi. This particular vehicle will hold approximately 3.4 Quarts of standard automatic transmission fluid. The filter must be changed, as well. If you are running the 4wd version of this vehicle, I would recommended the Lucas Semi-Synthetic Multi Vehicle ATF brand. For a 2wd unit, I would recommend the Castrol High Mileage ATF brand.

NOTE_ Most manufactures will require a special transmission oil fill tool. This is usually not available to the general public. In this case, you will need to refer to your dealer for proper procedure. Usually there will be a transmission dip stick visible under the hood area if your transmission oil can be changed with the more familiar procedures used throughout the years. Additionally, if this is a standared transmission. Any gear oil will do. Preferably differential gear oil(standard blend)

absolutely. every maker like honda, nissan , toyota, have there specific tranny fluid to use because it does not over heat the tranny. dexron lll will hurt any japanese cars. i would check to which fluid they used and check with the dealer for the proper spec of oil.
