I borrowed a friend's 1997 Toyota Tacoma and the turn signals are not working. Both the lights on the dash and the front and rear flashers do not work. I went to check the fuses but the cover plate with the diagram is missing so I wasn't sure which was which. I checked them all and all appeared to be OK.

SOURCE: toyota tercel flasher replacement

Try this before you pull the dash. Turn the ignition switch on, then, by hand, move the turn signal on an off slowly, while at the same time look under the dash. As the turn signal goes on and off each time you move the handle, you will be able to hear it click. Follow the click and you may find it is within reach without pulling the dash.

So other possible faults you may want to look at include: light control switch, headlight dimmer switch, and of course your bulbs if you haven't done so.

SOURCE: rear lights not working

Toyotas sometimes have multiple power wires coming off of the battery to fuse blocks. One of these wires may be broken. Electrical schematics are available on-line or in repair manuals. If you don't have one, go to the library and look in the repair manual section.

It's not the flasher. You have either lost ground to the front or just could be both bulbs are bad. Since the rear flashes, the flasher is good.

My hazards in my 1997 camaro rs work, but the back and front turn signals dont. The lights for the signals dont work in the dash either, just the lights for the hazards

check the signal flasher ( little silver or colored can in fuse panel or under dash. 4 ways have 1 flasher and the signals have a seperate flasher. Put hazards on to hear click, to determine which flasher is which. Hope this helps
