Depending on how you disconnected the sway bar links they might have been damaged when doing the struts

2000 Jetta TDI, has 390k on it. Changed front struts and used the same spring, now there is a rattling sound, didn't make this before. Has new top bushing. Could the springs not have enough pressure for...

The thing that comes to mind is that the insert has not been put in the strut housing properly and is rattling around inside it. Springs are just springs and support the weight of the vehicle so it will be under load of the vehicle at all times. Check that the top bearing support is tight in the support frame of the vehicle.

My 95 deville rattles a lot when I hit bumps ,,,what could it be

I would start with checking the muffler and pipes to see if they move when u push on them. Make sure car has set for a while so u don't get burned

I hear a rattling noise under he car when i hit bumps?

The most common cause would be the exhaust system has a broekne pipe hangar. Any muffler shop will inspect this for little or no cost to you.

Whats the different between strut vs. strut assembly? I'm a bit confused...

strut does not come with coil overs, you have to remove your old coils and install, a strut assembly comes with everything needed to just install

How to replace front and rear struts

You can buy preloaded struts meaning new springs and struts and upper bearing caps already together so all you have to do is mark the old position with chalk on the bottomand remove the to bolts at the bottom and the 3 at the top under the hood on the top and in the trunk and replace the same way.with the car jacked up and on jack stands for safety. The preloaded are safer way to do the job. some people have been hurt unloading the springs and trying to reload without the right tools.

200 Camry LE, 77,000 miles. Rattling noise over bumps, car front end dives when breaks are applied hard, Car bounces a couple times when human oushes on front end

This sounds like a bad strut, one or both on the front has gone bad. Here is a picture of just the strut with out the spring. The price ranges from $65.00 to $220.00 depends on what you can afford. mcneb_0.jpg

Front driver side suspension knock over bumps

See if you can bounce car and replicate the noise. If you can, you should be able to find it, and put your hand on it. Stabilizer bushing are a place to look, both at the lower a arm and on the frame. If you narrow it down to the strut, it will need to be replaced. The front trans mount also goes bad, try putting it in drive with your foot on the brake and give it some gas and see if the engine moves an excessive amount.

99 camery solara...ratlingnoise front left wheel,

Strut tops are a common failure on the 97-01 era Camry/Solaras.

They will make a hollow rattle sound whenever you hit bumps or uneven pavement.

They can be replaced one at a time, and do not require strut replacement if your old struts are still in good shape.
Replacement does require a strut compressor and an alignment afterwards, placing it outside the scope of most do-it-yourselfers.

It is labeled "suspension support" in the following diagram. The bearing below it is typically replaced at the same time.

rent a strut compression tool clamp the clamps on the spring tighten down and loosen the top three bolts some have two, then compress spring far enough to allow you to remove the strut bearing. and replace with new one and clean before installing new bearing. lightly lube wd 40.
