How do you change the gear shift bulb for a 2006 jeep liberty. The P R D 1 2 doesn't light up anymore.

Early bulb failure is caused by 1) high voltage or 2) bad ground connections, 3) excessive vibration, 4) corrosion inside the bulb connector

Check the transmission fluid level then smell it if it smells burned have the fluid and filter changed if all is good try using a product called TransX you should notice a difference within 15 minutes. I hope this helps. Take care.

Try the fuse

IF YOU ARE USING RIGHT BULB AND REPLACED BULB SOCKET.YOU HAVE BROKE WIRE OPEN WIRE SOMEWHERE BEFORE OR NEAR LIGHT BULB SOCKET.

check the fuses if not the fuse its the bulb

1) You will need to open the rear swing door.

2) On the inside jam there are two torx headed screws (T-15's if I remember correctly).

3) Unscrew the two torx screws.

4) The light is now held by two mounting tabs (small spherical headed plastic sets that go through a rubber grommet).

5) You will need to pry the light casing off (easy pressure with a good size flat head screw driver will do the trick).

6) The light bulbs are twist mount settings inside the light casing.

7) Twist out the mount setting, change the bulbs, and reset the light mountings.

8) To put the light casing push the light casing back on and put in the screws. Everything else will work in reverse when it comes to assembling the whole unit.

make sure you changed the correct bulb (it happens). turn on the other side to be sure. you may also have a defective new bulb (that happen too) lots of cheap electrical parts out there!

Welcome to the current world of computer controls. Unless it never did this for a couple years your stuck like I am ,with a 6 year old lincoln LS. 46 years experience and I can't help on this one. You may want the dealer to check for a computer update. Have them run the VIN# and check for you

The Jeep comes with Platinum plugs from the factory.
And also a little secret-They are guarenteed from the manufacture for 1000,000 miles
Your Jeep should have Champion plugs in it.
