No power from batery to anyplace

When I open the door, there is no dome light, when I put the key in switch there is no "tone" sounding. The lights, horn and starter will not work. I put a new batery in and it does the same. The onlly thing that works is the fuel gauge.

Check the voltage drop on the battery cables, they may be defective.

I suggest you try one of those instant download manuals. My nephew bought one for me when my car broke and we could fix it all by ourselves with the manual costing $10. This website reliable-store is very good for this.

also try manualslife com
very good and helpful content there

Dome light and key in ignition tone won't quit.

Yes, I would lean toward a stuck drivers door latch. Your door open switch is located in the latch itself and the ding is a reminder your key is in the ignition so you don't lock them in the vehicle when you lock the door. even though your door is shut, the truck still thinks it is open. sometimes spraying the latch with some WD-40 will get it freed up and working again, but a new latch might be in your future.

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 Z-71 - the interior dome light works with the dash switches, but won't work when the door opens. Why?

Is there a button by the headlight control switch? I recently found out that the dome light only comes on while the doors are open when this button is engaged

It sounds like a door ajar switch is broken. The door switches are located in the door on the latch mechanism. To get to it you will need to remove the door trim panel to gain access to the door latch.

The switch is available for around $20 - autozone part number SW1979 or SW3688

Have a 04 super cab ranger tremor and when i turn the dome light and the door ajar light comes on how can i fix that

turn off the dome light.

the door opens, it turns on the dome light, so the wire that goes from the door switch gets powered up and makes your dome light come on. if your door is closed, and you turn on the dome light, the same wire gets power and is actually sending power to your light bulb on the dash.
just ignore it , or get a diode and put it on the correct wire, and it wont allow the electricity to flow back towards the light bulb when you put the dome light on.

Dome lights won't turn off

Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

Car will not start, no power anywhere

Have you checked the battery cables, acid could have wicked into the cable and there is no connection being made to the car, jump direct to the starter terminal and ground the other lead on the engine, see what happens.

Dome light

Might sound funny but check the rheostat knob that dims the interior lights, sounds like its set to always on. Check the dome light too, some have always on and on when door is open settings.
