Hello,
If nothing works but headlights then the first thing that I would do is check the starter wires, there are wires that connect to the starter called fuseable links, they are different colors and they have a small (1\2 inch approx) round cylinder shape built into the wire that have to have 12 volts at all times. (they are a type of fuse) that powers the car, without them some things may not work or start car. use a test light with the key on to see if the are good (12volts)

There are several ways to add more ground wires. If your battery ground cable is clean and tight, you can use 10 or 12 gauge black automotive wire and terminal ends to make your own grounds. Ground from the negative battery terminal to the engine. Ground from the negative terminal to the metal firewall behind the engine. Ground from the negative terminal to the chassis.

If the passkey is messed up, there will be a light on the dash that says security, or have a picture of a car with a lock thru it. If there is no light when the key is turned forward, then its NOT a passkey problem.

Sounds strange but make sure your low beam bulbs are good [ they have an average life span- they may have both burnt out at the same time ]. This happened to me once in the 1980's with a VW rabbit.

On two occasions in the last 6 months my 99 chevy monte carlo would not restart after a short drive. The key turned ok, all the idiot lights came on, horn, headlights, but nothing when I turned the key....

Brake pedal going to the floor is probably because engine is not starting. If the engine cranks over but will not start then you are possibly getting vapor lock. This could be caused by air in your fuel line which in turn is caused by a bad fuel pump. If the motor will not turn over then odds are on that you have a bad solinoid. Please rate my answer.

Can i change the front end on my 86 monte carlo ls to a ss???

I can't see it being a problem. SS was basically just an option on a platform for all Monte Carlos.Everything from an SS should bolt on or in, depending on how far you go with it. Hope this helps.

Keys stuck in ignition tires not locked it is in

Is the battery dead or disconnected? I've had that problem in another Chevy. With battery disconnected it would not return to the off position and allow me to remove the key.

Good luck!

Key will not turn in the ignition 2003 Monte Carlo SS

Be sure its all the way in park or try neutral. Its possible that security system does not recognize the key. Is security light flashing or on steady? Shut all doors and windows, trunk, hood, turn off all accessory's,roll down drivers window, turn key off and remove for at least 1 minute, insert key into ignition, try to start leaving key to run position for 20 minutes, turn key to off, wait 15 seconds, try to start again leaving key to run, wait 20 minutes, turn key off, wait 15 seconds, try to start, This should relearn key code. It may relearn after 1 learn cycle and start if system is ok. Hope this helps and that the weather is dry and warm for this procedure!.. i think this may solve ur problem..

thank u rate me!!!
