I have a '97 grand am se and there is an abundance of white smoke coming out from under the hood and seems to be losing power. Also, when I put it in park the engine revs up and then it dies. Like its choking out. This is my only way back and forth to work, is there anything I can do?

Sounds like catastrophic failure in the works if you don't get this to a service professional soon.

SOURCE: where is the fuse box on a 97 pontiac grand prix?

Inside the glove box on the passenger side you will see an opening. Use a light and you will see that it says "pull here", remove the plastic and the fuses are right behind it.

SOURCE: need to locate and replace thermostat for 97

The thermostat is under the car on the backside of the engine. there will be a metal pipe attached to the lower radiator hose. Follow that pipe to the back of the car. It is bolted to the water pump housing. The thermostat is in between the water pump housing and the metal pipe.

Sounds like you have blown a head gasket. Do not run the engine like this or you will seize it up . anti freeze will freeze the pistons and you will need a new engine. Hope you have not ruined it now.

Smoke is coming out from under my hood...checked antifreeze and oil so it fine

white smoke usualy tells about a leakage in the cooling. check that. dont forgett to refill. get it repaired or DIY. attention: could be really hot.

if it smells like fuel, a fuel line is broken. then dont drive any more since it can catch fire.

if the smoke is not white, go to the repair shop instantly.
