BMW X5 Year 2003. Last year I changed airmatic suspension on all 4 wheels, and now the problem crop up that the SUV rides very hard and cannot be set on the comfort mode. Some mechanic says that the airmatic got to be changed again.... Kindly advise me that is it possible the suspension can be damaged in one year and further more this car is seldom used... Thanks.

Hi , on this model x5 it may be worth having the ride height set correctly before thinking that there could be a problem , this can only be done at a bmw dealer , regards mark.

I have a 2003 BMW X5 4.4i. For the past few months I have had the "self level susp inactive" notice on my dash. The suspension still seems fine. Vehicle rides nice and it seems level. Any thoughts?

If you're satisfied with the way the car handles and rides, don't worry about it. If you're concerned about the light, take it to a dealer and they will troubleshoot and correct whatever problem they find. But it will probably be an expensive way to turn the light off.

I have the car to low error message on the display the bags are bottomed out and wont raise up. its on a e 500 2003

The suspension has a leak somewhere and/or the airmatic compressor has stopped working properly. You need either the Mercedes star diagnosis system (SDS) in order to access the suspension control module to tell it to raise the vehilce or you can try to trick it by jacking up the car so it thinks it's sitting at the correct ride height. But as long as the display reads a warning it won''t allow the airmatic compressor to run.

1991 BMW 325

This is a 19 year old 325 with presumably over 150000 miles on the clock so you can expect many problems to crop up if you keep the car.

1. Check the oxygen sensor which will die on these engines.

2. Check the engine coils which are also prone to failure and may be on their last legs.

If the car is frequently parked in the open in freezing conditions you will have trouble starting it because the electronics will play up.
