Hi, I have a 2006 buick rainier and the driver's side door handle is broken. I am trying to get a replacement but can't seem to get it anywhere - it's chrome. Can you please help.

you didn't say, but assume you mean outside handle. You will need to remove the inner door panel to get at the mechanism, get a new one at the wreckers of dealer. Carefully remove and replace, making sure the rods are connected properly. If you are not handy, leave it to a professional.

If the mechanism is broken you will have to go to the dealer, or the parts store, I can get the handle only through my supplier for $40. Advance sells them for about $60.

Fairly common problem on the 03-06 Rainier instrument clusters, it's caused by failing stepper motor on the cluster's circuit board and it can be fixed. Check out this page for more on it - Rainier oil gauge broken

First of all look around the door handle for screws, remove any that you see there. then the door panel is held in place with a number of clips that attach to the inside of the panel and then into holes in the frame. Use a stiff blade putty knife to gently work your way around the door and remove the panel. If you break a clip or two, I usually do, not to worry as they are available at any auto parts store.

have you tried emailing the manufacturer yourself the sales guy might not be bothered. joe
