Try chemical flush on radiator, be sour hoses are clean. After you flush it, warm it up remove the cap and see if the fluid is circulating.

Check the water in the radiator, check the thermostat, check the valve going to the heater core that it is open.there is a vacuum line going to it, see that its drawing vacuum.

Off the heater hoses that connect to the heater core on back of motor by firewall.

you have air trapped in system. If you could hang van like a deer in a tee, you could get the air out. Go to a sho with evac/fill equipment and have them purge the air. You are about 3 qts short of full

why do you want to know?

you have air trapped in the heater cores, front and back. You need to burp system or take to a shop and have them flush cooling system and use their vacuum system to purge the air. Should cost $60. Make sure they have vacuum system.

yes it sounds to me like the thermostat control on the dash is malfuctioning. either that or heater control valve under the dash that converts the flow of air around or through the heater core could be stuck in heater mode. hope this helps. i dont know your financial situation but if it was me i would aquire one from a salvage yard in order to test because that part is quiet expensive from the dealer
