here is a diagram on how to replace the front pinion seal.
please do not forget to rate and comment about your experience with fixya.
To install:
Removing the companion flange
Measuring pinion rotating torque
Pinion seal installer
Tightening the pinion nut
CAUTION
Do not exceed the minimum tightening torque when installing the companion flange at this point. Damage to the collapsible spacer or bearings may result.
CAUTION
Never loosen pinion nut to decrease pinion bearing rotating torque and never exceed specified preload torque. If preload torque or rotating torque is exceeded a new collapsible spacer must be installed.
CAUTION
If maximum tightening torque is reached prior to reaching the required rotating torque, the collapsible spacer may have been damaged. Replace the collapsible spacer.

In most cases just replacing the seal will repair the leak. Check the seal surface on the axle hub to insure that the surface is not damaged and will damage the new seal.
SOURCE: changing front passenger axle
It is fairly simple, Block your wheels and loosen the lug nuts a little, jack your car up until you have the tire off ground, remove tire, remove the center nut on the tire hub. pull the whole assembly uot and away from the car, let the assembly hang down and push to one side, use something to hold it away from work area, fallow shaft until you come to a support, loosen the support. pull, **** hard shaft towards you. it will take a great effort to loosen the shaft but it should pull loose as one piece. get the new one and put it into the same route as the old shaft. look at entry point into the transmmision make sure that the new shaft has been properly seated, you will feel or hear the spline click into place when properly seated. then follow disassembly instructions. Go to the library if you need pictures and detailed step for step instructions. hope this gets you there.

SOURCE: removing the assembly from the trans-axle
I decided to call the local/regional non-official Toyota repair business on the off-chance that they would tell me how and why. They were very kind and obliged me. There is a serious amount of resistance on the driver-side axle due to a 'round' wire circlip embedded in a groove in the spline-end that is in the transaxle. It will release if enough prying/wedging effort is applied to the black cv housing...with care not to damage the aluminum transaxle case. I used any convienent bolt-head in the case as a fulcrum, and a stout prybar/flat-blade screwdriver as a lever. With a flushed-red face, a deep gutteral grunt, and a mighty heave, the axle gave up the fight and slid out like a good bowel movement. I regret that I could not use your services, but I have no credit cards. And the fact that $9 at this time is about enough gas for me to run for a week. Every penny counts out here in the wilds of western Montana. Thanks for being there, regardless. I will refer to you in the future when I am back on my feet. Warm regards. Michael aka peterjmoose.

2. .Lift the front passenger side of the vehicle with a floor jack and slide a jack stand under the vehicle frame near the wheel. Lower the floor jack so the vehicle is sitting on the jack stand and move the floor jack out of the way.
3. Remove the lug nuts with the tire tool and set the front passenger wheel out of the way. Take the cap off the end of the axle with a standard screwdriver and remove the cotter pin from the axle with a pair of pliers.
