Do you hear the click of the dimmer switch when you move the lever if you do then the steel rod that goes from the lever to the switch itself is working and the switch is moving from the low beam to high beam circuit.if the blue dash indicator is on them power is coming out of the switch to the dash to operate the light.its possible that the dimmer switch may need to be adjusted a little if you don`t hear the click but moves enough to put the dash light on but not enough to turn the high beams on,that is possibly why the low lights stay on.or you have a bad dimmer switch itself

After turning Right using blinker my high beams come on by themselves

It is one of two things:
1. The turn indicator switch is bad if it is a combo switch that has the dimmer in it for the headlights
2. The clock spring in the steering column.

I have a 06 grand prix the bright lights work but the dim wont come on at all what could this be

Hi, the problem can be the relay or the body control module. The thing to do is pull the low beam relay out of the relay box under the hood and swap it wil the high beam relay. If the low beams start working instead of the low beams, buy another relay for the high beams. If there is no change, pull the relay out again and interrogate the relay socket with a 12 volt test light or voltmeter. Connect your test light clip to chassis ground and probe the relay socket. There should be 2 hot terminals in the socket. If not, there is a problem with the fuse box. If you get these 2 hot terminals, move your test light clip to battery positive and probe the other 2 terminals in the socket. With the headlight switch off, there should be one terminal that lights the test light dimly. If not, there is a problem with the wire from the relay to the headlights. If this is OK, next turn the headlights on (low beam setting) and probe the socket again. There should now be 2 terminals that light the test light. If not, there is a problem with the wiring from the body control module, the module itself, or the beam control switch. If you get to this point, you will need to check the signals AT the BCM to determine if the BCM is to blame of the switch. Please get back to me for these additional steps, if you get stuck here.

The lows beams dont work change every thing and still no low beams is there a sensor some where if so where irrrrrrt at help please

More than likely, the dimmer switch - lever on side of steering wheel to activate high beams is shorted or head light switch itself is bad.

Pontiac grand prix 2006 headlight problem

Yes it's the mutifunction switch it needs to be replaced it's the one for the blinker and head lights but if the low beams are going out it's the light switch itself, also expanded ends where the bulb is pluged in could cause this. To fix that you need to remove the connecter and squeeze the conneters together then push them back on. they try it this won't cost you any money, if the stay on your good to go if the go out then if it's the low beams replace the light switch it's not to much $35.00 or so and is easy to replace but would have to tell you how to do that so get back to me and let me know.
