I have a 99 chrysler 300m that does not start, it sounds like it's out of gas but there is gas in there.. The diagnostic says the cam & the crankshaft sensors are bad but they have been replaced 2 times now. What would cause the sensors to go bad, if this is the case?

I am not saying that this is your problem for sure, but have you had your water pump and timing belt replaced lately?? I had the same car and it would crank and crank but would not start. I replaced both my cam and crank sensors also. Eventually I tore into it and found out that my timing belt had broke.

What happened to mine is the water pump (inside the timing cover powered by the timing belt) leaked and the coolant messed up my timing belt and the timing belt finally snapped.

I replaced water pump and timing belt and luckly the car did not have any bent valves. Just to help out I would not try and crank the car anymore until you know for sure that your timing belt is intact. If it is bad and you go in to replace it I would do the water pump while you are in there. It will save you trouble and is a really easy job.

Good luck and I hope the best for you!!

Was the cam sensor tested & was it found to be bad?

Was the fuel pump checked out or fuel pressure checked?

Always learn how things work & how to test them

Replace nothing until something fails

No guessing at all, diagnostic testing, if you like

Starting issues 1999 chrysler 300 m

get a starting and charging system diagnostic. I am the owner of a 99 300M and I had a similar problem. It took about 3 months before my car would not start at all. But sometimes, I would get this clicking when turning the key in the ignition. It turned out to be a short in the starter. The starter and the alternator had to be replaced.

Change the Cam Position Sensor.. It done the same thing on mine. The sensor runs about
40. to 60.00 at most parts stores Your gonna have to take off the upper intake or plenum to
get access to it. Top of the engine right side, you'll see it
