When I go to brake my brakes go to the floor but do not stop me. I have not had any brake troubles up unto this point. My brake fluid levels are fine and I have found no leaks. Time for a new brake cyclinder?

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Few things too look at. Here are the following:

- The brake pistons may have leaks that's why when brakes are applied it will floor but won't stop. You will have to have it replaced.
- The brake booster is faulty. If the brake booster is faulty same result will happen
- Brake fluid is out. Try to fill it to the right level and it can resolve the problem

The following will surely need replacement to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Having trouble bleeding brakes for 2009 jeep wrangle 4wh drive when car is off the brakes seem fine , but when the car is on the brake pedal goes almost to the floor

Because when you start it the brake booster will start working, start bleed on wheel farthest from master cylinder and work closer, one at a time pump up and bleed each line at least once after you don't see air anymore...

My brakes go to the floor and don't stop

1. Check brake fluid level, if ok. Master maybe bad. If it is low then you need to look for a leak and you have air in the brake system

2003 chevy impala brake pedal goes to floor when sitting at a complete stop

First, check your brake fluid levels, if it is low then that enplanes your problem. Also, when was the last time you had the brakes changed? if the are worn down, then this will also cause a low fluid level. if the brakes are fine and the fluid level is good and you still have the same issue, then your problem is probably your master cylinder. Brake boosters hardly ever go bad.

When i mash the brakes the pedal goes all the way to the floor and the car doesnt completely stop

Check the brake fluid level and if that is good the problem is a faulty caliper or Master Cylinder, possibly the brake distribution module.

2000 silerado sometimes brake pedel goes to floor on low speed stops

Brake pedal shouldn't go to floor for any reason. Check brake fluid level. If high, then there is a problem with the master cylinder.

If the fluid is low, add until the proper level and check for leaks in the brake lines.

Is there an ABS light on?

1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra, brakes went to the floor with no warning and the Brake light came on-previous day there was a stange smell while stopped at red light . What could the problem be?

I'd be willing to bet that a brake line has rusted through, somewhere near the brake rotors or the exhaust. The smell was probably burning brake fluid. Check the fluid level in the resevior, If it's low, top it off and with the car off, pump the brakes and look for the puddle under the car. That should point you in the direction of the leak. Also check the wheel cylinders. This would require removing the rear wheels and brake drums. A bad master cylinder could also be the cause. If you don't have any fluid loss, i'd suspect the master.

Back brake not working?

you need to bleed all 4 brakes. have someone push the brake pedal while you open the bleeder valves on each caliper or brake line. close the valve or tighten the line efore the person pressing the pedal reaches the floor. monitor the fluid level because you will loose fluid while bleeding the brakes.

Emergency stopping, brake pedal went almost to the floor, took long distance to stop, antilock pulsated just before stopping.Feels like uneven aplication of front and rear brakes. And what is the brake fluid...

if the brake edal goes to the floor then either the booster is bad or low on fluid. There is a line on the side of the fluid reservoir to fill too.
