I have a 1997 isuzu rodeo 3.2L I've checked the continuity on the fuel pump wires they seem fine. No/low voltage on the wires to the pump, (.08 volts when DMM is set to 20). Checked pump after removing the tank and the pump, it purred. Checked the fuel pump relay it seems to have power on 1 circuit, (not sure if 2 circuits should have power(?)). Then checked with a known good relay. Then tried jumping/bypassing the relay. The schematic show the power should go from the fuse to the relay. The fuse is fine though. I don't believe the ECM is malfunctioning either. I'm not sure, but I don't believe it is. And with the fuel tank and pump removed I still don't get a check engine light, and it was working. Vehicle ran fine until I parked it a few days ago. Turns over without a problem but doesn't get any gas. I checked the filter and the lines before I pulled the tank, they were good. HELP!!!, How should I proceed from here. Thanks

You may want to try to see if the car will start while you spray starting fluid down the throttle body. If it doesn't, the problem may not be the fuel pump at all. There is an idle air control valve bolted to the front of the throttle body that can keep the car from starting as well.

If the car starts with the starting fluid, you might want to change your fuel filter. It's mounted under the car near the passenger rear door.

Charging problem. Have a 97 isuzu rodeo 2wd put new alt and battery in it and when I put a load on the volt meter drops to 12.7. At idle it's on 14 . Why is it doing this?

Because of the load. It will drop in voltage, this is normal. As long as it stays above 12 you will be fine. But just to be sure start the car and turn everything on, then check the voltage. If it stays at 12.7 it's good.

I have a 1997 isuzu rodeo 2.6 L single overhead cam- 2 wheel drive Whare is the cam sensor on the motor located?

Don't have 12v(only one wire has 5v) at fuel pump w/ignition in the on position. All four wires in harness have continuity.

If your checking fuel pump voltage, check other wires while cranking that will be fuel pump voltage and will only have voltage while cranking, or 3 to 5 secon after stop cranking. the one 5 volts will be gas gauge.

Fuel pump in my 97 rodeo works if i wire it to the battery, but does not work when i plug it in where it belongs.I've checked the fuses and they all look fine.

Same thing happened to me on my 1996 isuzu rodeo. My fuel pump worked part of the time. I actually bought a new one, then tested the old one when I removed it. Like you, I hard-wired it to the battery. It turned out to still be good.

It turned out to be a bad ground connection from the fuel pump. You can check it by --- 1) hooking the fuel pump back up where it belongs, 2) splicing a wire from the ground wire coming from the fuel pump and 3) grounding the wire (loosen a bolt head on the undercarriage, stick the stripped wire tip between a bolthead and undercarriage surface, then rachet the bolt head back tight. Then 4) just turn the ingnition key and see if the fuel pump engages and the engine starts.

Good luck!

No power to fuel pump 1996 isuzu rodeo

Try tracing the fuel pump power wire from the tank back toward the engine. I've had a few Isuzus with corroded wires.

My fuel pump dosen't work all the time and i just replace it.

There are 2 connectors on the alternater. The round one has 3 wires. If there is no voltage on the green wire when the engine is running the alternator is bad. I'm not sure what fails internally but the alternator can put out fine charging voltage on the main black lead and not have voltage on that green wire. That wire is a trigger for the fuel pump relay. Voltage goes to the main power relay then to idiot lights in the dash then back to trigger the fuel pump relay. Along the way it goes in and out of the oil pressure switch(sender at the back bottom of passenger side of block with 2 yellow wires). This switch cuts voltage to fuel pump if no oil pressure. The green wire from alt is a safety in case of collision ect. Engine not running> no alt voltage on that wire>no fuel pump pressure>no fire. If this wire is bad it will not show up on the standard auto store test. And is a common failure. I had an brand new Isuzu rebuilt OEM alternator that was bad like this.
