When my 2003 Alero gets wet (rain) it will not start....nothing happens. Usually, we are able to start it after @ 30 mins., but yesterday and today...nothing. It all started when my battery died in the alarm system/auto door opener on a rainy night. The car wouldn't start, but the radio and lights were on....any ideas?

I have this problem all too often myself. Pop the hood, check to make sure the wires have not come undone. If they are on there securely, try and jump the battery if you have that option. Once jumped, it will give the battery more juice and you should be good to go. Please rate FixYa!

yes, the security system will cut fuel to the cylinders or stop the car from cranking. what you can do is called a 30 minute re-learn. have everything turned off and a charger hooked up to the battery if possible, put the key in and attempt to start, release key to the run position and let it sit for about 10 minutes or untill the security light goes out. turn key off for 5 seconds and repeat the process 2 more times. after the process is done 2 more times the car should have re-learned the key and it should start. if it still doesn't start the problem might be somewhere else in the security system but try the 30 minute re-learn first. i can assist you with this problem further if needed as i have excellent resources.

Damp is getting into your electrics. Spray all wires and disributor with WD40 after wet days or nights before trying to start it. That should cure it

i own a 03 alero ... aleros have history of igniton switches going bad... replace it or take it to dealer then ull be charged arm and leg...
